AR-V optic choices

Let’s discuss RDS (red dot sight) iron sight or if you’re running a magnified optic.

Which reticle pattern and why?

Pictures are worth a thousand words ;’)

I’m currently running scalarworks iron sights in conjunction with a cheap red dot (riton) I found in my parts bin. It works, for now. The way I run my weapons and equipment it WILL break. I’ve been through 3 EOtechs (exps) a few Romeo whatever you wanna call em. I’d like this thread to be as informative and helpful to those who are in need of a sighting system for their ARV.

Now I’m leaning towards a Romeo 4H with quadplex reticle. Hash marks are my friends when it comes to finding my holds. On a eotech exps 3-4 the 400-500 yard holds work very well 7-10 yards for holds. So the Romeo quadplex should be very useful IMO.

I use the PA MD-25. Its reticle has 9mm holdovers.

i tend to use the Sig Sauer Romeo 5. red dot, and it tends to work fine. I really like the shake awake technology too so im not always killing my battery.
unfortunately i dont have a photo of mine with the romeo on it at this time.

Anyone running the Holosun 510C on their AR-V?

welcome to the forums @voodooridr we’re glad to have you!

I literally just got home from the range and I was debating on buying the 510c. Very crisp dot and donut. It would be a good choice however I’m opting for something in the 1.93 height.

They do make a lower 1/3 mount spacer

ADM is good stuff. I got a Steiner MPS laying around. Thinking about slapping it on with this mount…https://arisakadefense.com/aimpoint-acro-mount-mk2/

Primary Arms makes a GLx 2x prism optic with 9mm holdovers in the ACSS reticle, seems like it could cover any realistic range you’d be taking shots at with an AR-V, but would make the 50-150 ones a bit easier with the magnification.

I think it’s mostly my eyes aging, but I’m starting to really not like standard dot sights out past 50. Irons are left to the classics.

SIG Romeo5. It’s never failed me on any of my rifles. Always seems to be zeroed right out of the box.

So I ended up using a scalarworks 1.5?? Whatever height it is with a RMR type 2. Couldn’t be happier with the outcome.

good lookin ar-v it looks much like mine, minus the optic of course.

Already on my second Inforce light. First one I bought, the pressure switch, all of a sudden, started taking a thumb nail to activate. (No shoots fired, less than 24 hours) Sent it back for replacement, still need to range test the new one. If I didn’t love how low it sits, and the pressure switch/ergos. I would haven’t bothered with replacing it. If this one takes a dump, I’m going with the Modlite PDW. I can’t believe inforce is on gen 3’s with the same ol problems. The gen 3 has a much better output and tighter beam. I’m kinda hoping it takes a dump cuz my wife said I can get the Modlite if so. Since this is the bedside gun and it runs most hollows, she wants what I want on the gun lol.

Did you get your can for this build yet?

Yes, ive had it.
