Is anyone out there having problems feeding light bullets (145-150 grain) in .350 legend builds? I built this rifle in 2019 and it will run heavy hunting loads (170-180 gr) all day long but with lighter bullets it seems to short stroke consistantly. It has a 20" brl, Rifle length gas system. I’ve tried using a M16 BCG, lighter AR15 BCG, an adjustable buffer @ 2.4 oz and finally a JP Ent silent captured spring buffer with the lightest spring available, with no change in the feeding.
I’m at a loss at what to try next. Any suggestions out there?
Are you using an adjustable gas block or suppressor?
Im not using either at this time. I have considered trying an adj gas block but others I’ve talked to about it said that wouldn’t fix my problem. I’m not totally convinced of this though.
This is exactly what adjustable gas blocks are for. For instance my .308 is tuned for 175gr SMK, but 147gr needs to be opened a couple clicks to cycle. It’s completely dependent on the amount/type of powder and projectile weight. You need new people to get advice from.
Any recommendations on who, what where for a gas block?
I have an Odin Works adjustable gas block on my .308, I switched to the PSA gas blocks when I added one to my AR15s because they’re essentially the same and less expensive. Super easy to adjust.
You also may need to open the gas port slightly if it still won’t work. But that is the beauty of adjustable gas blocks, in that you can tune it after opening the barrel port up.
Are the adj. gas blocks caliber specific or just barrel diameter?
Do PSA’s have click adjustments?

They do, its 5 clicks per rotation.
if I need to open up the brl port, how large or what size would I need to open it up to? How does one go about it without ruining a barrel?
That is for a gunsmith to do…measure what your current one is and then up it up slightly. Like thousandths of an inch slightly.
The stuff I have see online is that the port should be .0093"-.0096". Get out your calipers and measure your port.

I’m new to this forum stuff so I appologize to you all for my bad(?) decorum. when I built this rifle for deer hunting in Ohio I got a variety of ammo for it. My local store at the time had some Win .350 147 gr. FMJ on sale so I bought 400 rnds of it. It’s no fun trying to burn through it with a single shot rifle!

No worries…that’s what we are here for. I don’t own a 350 legend but I read everything I can. The days of having to go buy books to get info are long gone when compared to the wealth of online gun forums.
I had to open the gas port 2 drill sizes bigger and with an adjustable gas block it now shoots 124 grain all the way up to the 225 flying ashtray round for self defense. I had to do extensive work on all makes of magazines to get it to feed right not to mention all the feed ramp polishing I did. The 350 is a fickle beast but when done right it’s a great deer slayer.
