Getting ready to build for a suppressor. Main goal is reliable operation when suppressed.
AGB is a must, but I would like to know what you have done to dial in getting your AR running “right” with a can.
FWIW- not set on if I am building a pistol or rifle host yet. Leaning pistol host that gets “stamped” to SBR in the near future (assuming the gun grabbers don’t make all of it illegal).
SO…
Light weight BCG? Specific Buffer weight…? Just the AGB? How’d you get yours tuned in?
The shorter the barrel, the harder it is to tune. I never got my 10.5” working right. I’m back up to 13.7” now. I’ll let you know if i get it running after i test/sight it in this weekend.
My first suppressed rifle (8.5" 300blk SBR) does not have an adjustable gas block. All those military Rifles prior to about 2013-14 also didn’t have them. You can tune a rifle without one, it just takes some trial and patience.
I was planning to stay w/5.56. I would like to have a 300blk, but I am just not up for “stocking” another chambering right now. Maybe if things ever get back to semi-normal I will get an additional suppressor to fit and go the 300 route.
H1 buffer with standard bcg, figure out how it’s best tuned unsuppressed, count how many clicks difference it is to tune with the suppressor and thats about it. On my .308 I know it’s 4 clicks difference between the two. Mostly I just leave it on the same setting since it’s not that different.
Same here, I have 3 AR SBR, 2 pistol 9mm AR and built quite a few more pistols for other people and I have never ran an adjustable gas block. I have 3 suppressors that I run on all my AR. I use full auto bolt carriers, different wieght buffers and also JP Enterprises silent captured spring to fully tune my AR. I would rather have a properly tuned AR for multiple reasons other than just relying on a gas block to do the work for me.
