Looking around for A basic NV scope. The prices for the ATN’s seem good from Palmetto. Anybody here with real world experience with the brand and their NV?
Following. IIRC @SuperPredator may be the NV guy.
Ok, my new place has coyote………apparently lots of them. Might have to sezzle a NV scope sooner than I expected…………
Cheaper refurbished
I would not reccommend the night vision optics. I owned one and it did not work from the factory. Screen would freeze after 5 minutes everytime. ATN told me to send it in for repair but i returned it after researching online and saw alot of bad reviews mirroring my experience. I have other relatives who also had issues. To be fair i never tried ATN’s thermal optics, so those may work.
I have a PVS14 i bought used. I’ve had it so long I have zero idea of the make or tube specs.
Entry level, get a green phosphor PVS 14 with manual gain, IMO
Ended up with a sightmark wraith HD. Picked it up Saturday. So far happy with it, but definitely needed to practice all the buttons, adjustments etc before going back out in the blind.

I also recently purchased a sightmark wraith 4K mini (PSA daily deal…). So far has performed much better than my ATN. I could clearly see small red pines on the edge of my field roughly 300 yards away!
NICE!!! I got the 4x…….with as close to trees as some of shots are potentially, I kind of wish I’d gone with the 2x……I “think”. If I’m in semi thick brush/woods, the 4 power as a minimum becomes a blinding factor I’m finding. Still practicing with the rifle at night before attempting any live fire on anything breathing.
Picked up a new stand last night to get me up and out of the brush, so that should help
Set up a new 16’ 2 seater. Doubt I’ll see anything tonight since a crew was here in and around my property running fiber optic cables, unannounced
while we were hunting this morning and ran off a nice sized doe. Well if nothing else tonight I’ll wait out sunset and switch over to NV now that I’m up out of the brush and have much better and longer line of sight
I picked up a handheld from https://www.pixfra.com/outdoors/thermal_monocular and it’s been pretty solid for scanning before switching to my scope. It’s lightweight, boots up fast, and gives me a better idea of where to look before I commit to aiming. Makes things smoother at night, especially in thick cover.
