Thermal scopes

Any suggestions on thermal scopes? Anything to consider? Like most things I learn about the most important question would probably be, which ones to avoid? Anyone have experience? Best setup on an AR style?

Thanks Gents.

I think @SuperPredator has thermal.

Ah makes sense. Found the post that made me start thinking about thermal scopes and this is it. It was him actually.

Time goes back 1 hour soon so any free time I have to go target practicing will probably be at night. So I looked at some online but have no idea what is “good”. Even the entry level ones are not cheap so I have no idea where the entry level stops and where the decent ones start.

I have a FLIR Breach thermal. It’s handheld/helmet mountable. Several color pallettes, records video, takes snapshots. It’s everything that I need from thermal. It uses a CR123 battery, good for about an hour’s runtime; or you can connect an external battery pack via usbc cable.

I love it. It has helped me immensely while hunting hogs.

It is not weapon mountable.

This one is actually very cool. No big giant scope, just a red dot style thats thermal. I thought I’d have to have a big scope because thats all I’ve ever seen.

Ok gotcha. Full on Navy Seal style with a helmet mounted unit, that would be cool. Might not be that sleek walking around with a helmet thou. But you could see as you walk and still look through your original optics.

Oh, I don’t have a helmet. I use the Crye Precision nightcap. Feels like a beanie with a chinstrap. Much lighter and more comfortable.

That looks very small - what is the brand/model of it?

Needs the shroud mount attached. Works well & less expensive than the crye precision no helmet option. This is a PVS-14 mounted on it.

An inexpensive thermal sight I’m testing out.

I got the GRL325 with 3Ă— base magnification. I would have preferred a 1Ă— or 2Ă— base. This one was preloaded with black hot.
