Free floating 10.5

My 10.5" pistol is my travel gun on road trips. To make it easier to pack and hide I decided to change out the A-frame front sight post for a free float. The only difficult part was the taper pins. Another minor benefit of doing this is the blurry front sight post isn’t in the prism optic’s field of view.

You could consider saving a few ounces and losing the irons entirely. Those PA prisms are VERY tough and are still perfectly usable without battery power.

Nice work otherwise, looks good.

I agree that PA makes some sturdy gear. I have several of their optics. However, it is my inability to not plan for a catastrophic failure. I keep a hex key in the Magpul grip so I can remove the optic and still have sights.

The only thing I am looking to add now is a good light. Not sure what I will go with. Down the road I may do the paperwork and get a suppressor for it since it is pretty loud, even with the flash can.

Depending on what you’re looking for in a light, I have a couple Crimson Trace CWL lights and have been very happy so far. They’ve been heavily discounted recently and come with everything you need, incl mounts and remote pressure switch. I have a 900 lumen on a 5.56 carbine and the 500 lumen (shorter) version on a PCC. Liked them so much I grabbed another 900 lumen for around $60!! I think they were around $100 when I bought the first one. Perfect for a truck setup.

That is what I am looking for and more than bright enough. I will check them out.

Streamlight makes a good one for $100 with a tape switch

I actually bought, ordered, a Crimson Trace. When I went to the sight they were both on sale and had free shipping. Win-win. About $65.00 all together.

I did the same - hopefully I won’t be disappointed in it (unlikely - I am pretty easily pleased!)
