Wanted to see what others have put on their AR15.
Here’s my build. 80% Palmetto stripped lower with 16inch upper in 5.56. Recently added a Monstrum Tactical scope 1-6x20 with adjustable magnification lever and red or green illuminated reticle, cantilever mounts, bikini covers and came with flip up lens covers also.
Welcome @calmarine83 ! I usually use Vortex scopes although recently I picked up a Weaver Tactical 1-5 that is made by LOW in Japan. Got a great deal on it and it is really good glass.
A few pointers for you on yours:
First, your mount is backwards. Second, you always want your mount on the upper receiver and not on the rail. The upper receiver is directly connected to the barrel , while the rail is not. Rails can and do come loose, which would equal a loss of zero.
Also, PSA doesn’t do 80% lowers that I am aware of.
I was wondering which way to mount the cantilever. I looked at pictures on line and that’s the way it was shown. I’ll turn it around and moved it back. The reciever I bought was a stripped lower. Thanks for the info.
Here are some of my favorites, Bushnell Engage 6-24x50, SWFA SS 20x42 and Bushnell Nitro 2.5-10x44. First thing, do your research and decide if you want to be an MOA or a milliradian guy and stick with it. If anyone is in the market Natches has the Bushnell Nitro 2.5-10 and 5-20x44 at less than half price.
Nice looking rifles. My thought when I started building my rifle last month is that I’d use it for CQB. Now I’ve kinda leaned more towards distance shooting. I know now I didn’t buy the correct scope neccesarily for long distance but I think this will get me started, and it’s just another excuse to build another one. I was recently gifted an M1 from my father and would love to use it for distance shooting but it doesn’t have a scope and I’m not sure I’d want to put one on it.
Warning: distance is addictive!!
Yes ! That was my favorite part of the rifle range in bootcamp .
Here is my old school 6.8spc, with the original Primary Arms 4-14x42 FFP scope. This gun outshoots me every time I get behind the glass.
PSA receiver set, 16" ARP Scout barrel and superbolt. Geissele G2S trigger.
At 100yrds
Good looking rifle, great shooting too!
What distance where these shots grouped at ? . Nice looking rifle by the way. I’m going to have to build another !
What silencer are you using. It looks Awesome !
That is a YHM 30 LT. It’s probably my favorite can. The mounts are solid and it has a really good decibel rating. YHM makes very good, affordable cans. I have a few of them.
I’d like to have one but they’re illegal in California
What butt stock & hand grip is on your M&P 15 ? VERY NICE.
Thanks. Honestly I have no freaking idea anymore lol. I wasn’t thrilled with the stock furniture and dug out some pieces I bought & never used laying around in my firearms “junk drawer”.
Hello new to everything AR. Just recently bought my first 556. Currently just has iron sight on it looking for recommendations for a new scope/red dot/holo. Best bang for the buck? That won’t cost an arm and leg.
Primary arms red dot or Sig Romeo5. Don’t go cheaper than those. If you want a low Profile Variable Optic, then either a Primary Arms or a Vortex Strike Eagle. Stay away from anything less than $100 and readily available on Amazon.
This scope isn’t on one of my AR but it is the last scope that I bought. It is a Nightforce ATACR dual Illuminated 7-35x56 with a 34mm tube. I have high end scopes from Ziess, Khales, Swarovski, Trijicon and Hensoldt. This is my first Nightforce scope and it definitely deserves a spot at the very top of the high end scope manufacturers. It is built like a tank. It has very clear optics and the light gathering capability is amazing.

I have parts from from Primary Arms and they have been good to deal with. How are their scopes as far as clarity and light gathering capability. I have never looked through one so I was curious as to your impressions on it.
