Bear Creek Arsenal BC-10 Right Side Charging Upper

10-4 gotcha. PSA and BC are both mil spec so I don’t see why it wouldn’t work

Edit they may Not be compatible

I didn’t think AR10 was mil-spec.

My experience just this week is identical to geolane’s:

I threw caution to the wind and bit on sale prices from both PSA and BCA, ended up with a PSA Gen3 PA10 lower, and a BCA ar10 upper, the standard forged rear charging, forward assist model. Has the new CHF barrel they are producing so I was enticed at the price.

Preface: I was completely aware from both PSA and BCA cautionary statements that fitting the two bastardized items together might prove unsuccessful, which it ultimately did:

Like geolane, the front pin slid home perfectly, but the rear mating radius areas of both the upper and lower prevents the rear pin holes alignment by an approximately 1/32 visually estimated.

I have no scope, but with a rudimentary bore light the rifling does look very clean and polished, so I am tempted to go ahead and order a matching BCA lower.

Any thoughts/advice?

Thanks.

I opted for rear charging as I am an old veteran and my memory goes to the rear charging handle.
Secondly, I scored a completed shipped 20" stainless rifle for $517.00 ($562 after shipping and taxes) with discounts and codes. I added in a RA 140 trigger as I like them. I added a B5 grip and better stock, PA HUD .308 scope and it is a tack driver. My PA10 is my big boy battle rifle. Its grip and trigger are inbound. I will be adding a PA 1-6 ACSS in .308.

I honestly have zero use for others offensive opinions, denigrations of what I choose to buy and use. I am not a Youtoober, I do not need name brands to justify my existence and bandy about in conversation. I am an old veteran. Kind of grumpy. But I shoot my rifles and pistols. My range trips are 200-500 rounds. I shoot them. Happy for the Danny Defenders out there bragging on their high dollar rifle. But do you run and gun with it? Does it get dirty, dragged, dropped, carried. So opinions vary, and if you plan to denigrate or lambaste others for having lesser quality goods, then maybe the issue is you.

Bump. I have a BCA rear charging 308 upper I bought a couple years ago. After a good bit of fettling, parts corrections/major headaches etc. it ended up being a decent rifle, yet still relatively low round count. Not sure that I’ve even put 300 rounds through it…….who’s ghetto blasting 308 anyways? Anyhow, I’m getting ready for deer season, so pulled it out to give it a cleaning, lubing and triple checking zero/ammo etc. Pulled the cam pin out and it is majorly worn and looks like it’s going to stress break/major malfunction very soon. BCA states it is gen 1 dpms pattern. Psa sells their 308 pins separately, so going to order one to try asap. Hoping it fits! But just a general heads up for the guys and gals with these BCA large framers……this upper shoot’s accurately I’ll give it that. But sheesh it’s scary looking at the wear compared to low round count

FYI, psa cam pin fit perfectly.

Yeah, I know I’m a little late to the party (only by a couple of years) but here is what the BCA and PSA say now:

BCA: “This .308 upper is compatible with 1st gen DPMS low profile lowers.”

PSA: “The new and improved Palmetto State Armory PA10 Gen3 .308 lower is fully assembled and ready for your complete PA10 Gen3 Upper!”
https://palmettostatearmory.com/psa-gen3-pa10-308-complete-classic-ept-lower-receiver.html

My conclusion: gen 1 and gen 3 = incompatible. However a reviewer at the BCA link claims they work together:
“with the cold hammer forge barrel this upper is light weight and fit good on my PSA PA10 gen 3 lower. definitely excited about the good tight fit. I had read some forums about trouble with fitment with the side charger. I did not have this experience. I am very happy with my purchase and excited to see how it performs at the range. Function test was good, will update when i take it to the range and see how she runs!”

I played it safe and built my lower around an Aero Precision DPMS bare lower and had no compatibility problems with my BCA upper. Had there been no generational difference, I would have just bought a PSA complete lower.

I have their 450 BM and a 6.5 Grendel uppers. Not 1 issue with either. Both became accurate after about 50 rounds down the pipe.

I have their 350 Legend, 6.5 24inch Grendel, 22WMR upper and love all of them and never a single issue. The Grendel and 22WMR are side charging and I like them a lot. The 350 is standard rear charging handle. Bear Creek and PSA I have put together 3 rifles now. I actually was stupid and bought a CMMG and they could not even get the muzzle break straight. I will never ever buy another CMMG anything because of that. The only complaint I have with Bear Creek is finish scratches’ to easy but for 220 dollars I am ok compared to 1300 for CMMG poorly made junk. I know it is OCD but it bothers me every time I look down the the CMMG 22 ARC rifle. I thought I was getting a high end rifle and got this kind of quality. So I will take my awesome PSA Lowers and my Bear Creek uppers and be a happy camper because if I scrape it or drop it or whatever I am ok.

CMMG quality: As in they have none, then when I contacted them it was all on me and what did I find wrong with their over priced junk?

Well this, I seen it as soon as my FFL pulled it out so did he, the break was off, the craftsmanship was off, the finish was off. Anyway, I now build 400 dollar ARs with PSA and Bear. If I want one, my WMR and 6.5 Grendel are 1 MOA.

No such animal as a “mil spec” AR 10 / AR 308. If there were these issues wouldn’t be issues.
