Best Buffer Weight For Mid-Length 5.56mm AR Carbine?

Hey all, I’m looking for the best buffer weight for a PSA 18" CHF Mid-Length Length 5.56 NATO 1/7 Heavy 15" Precision Lightweight M-Lok Upper (516444448B) mated to a PSA lower with a standard spring and carbine buffer tube.

What say you all?

Standard weight carbine buffer?
H?
H2?

I keep reading mixed things.

Have ran nothing in the past but standard buffer weights, and now looking at whether to up the weight.

I’m running H in my mid lengths and in a pistol

May experiment with an H2 at some point

I tried 2 tungsten weights in my mid length, ran fine. Swapped back to 1 later on and runs fine, couldnt tell the difference really.

Buy the KAK adjustable kit and make your own. I usually use H2s though.

I generally run H in mid-length setups, and H2 in carbine-length setups.

i generally run the h2’s and am happy with the results.

im really liking the Geissele Super Buffer with H2

also you dont get the ‘twang’ sound from the normal style spring when using a silencer

Any of you running steel case .223 with the H2 and Mid?

nah bruh

Bought two complete lowers from PSA, I do not have a clue what buffer is included. I do know that my 20" upper has never had any failure to feed, lock bolt into battery, or fire with steel or brass. My 16" (mid length gas system) at first would not cycle (at least not reliably) with steel (Tula). I thoroughly cleaned and lubed (standard Hoppes gun oil). It preformed well, maybe not perfect. I am glad I have forward assist. That slick side upper people want for whatever reason is useless when TSHTF… There is reason they saw fit to design it into the rifle. Who ever has a different point of view is welcome to add or debate. I carried the M-16, and fore runner to the M-4 in the military. I want that forward assist now matter what ammo. Best of both worlds, auto feed/cycle vs bolt action.

The buffers should be marked (c for carbine, h, h1, h2, etc). Sometimes C buffers are not marked.

Thanks, I have figured out, mainly due to reading in this forum that it definitely matters. And how it affects cycling. Also with shorter barrel length that it is critical, or you would otherwise break or prematurely break the BCG. I will have to check and see what I have for buffer, and try to find tune. I’d rather get it right, or at least close as I can without wasting time and money the first time. I’ll do some studying on it. I love technical challenges and all things physics. This is an Issac Newton’s type action vs. reaction equation.

I have this setup too. It took a lot to get my suppressed SBR to run right. This helped immensely

Tula here. Runs like a top on a suppressed 12.5” with the H2 and Geissele spring. Plus an adjustable gas block.

Superlative Arms gas black is the way

I should have said unsuppressed…
