Walking downhill on a steep surface covered with decomposed granite sand-clay-rock-gravel.
Imagine if you dropped a million decks of cards on the hill. They would slip on each other.
It almost always happens going downhill. Thereās something about walking uphill where my shoes just grip better.
Also thereās a big difference between falling 45 degrees onto a slanted surface, and 135 degrees if you āgo over the wrong wayā.
I believe Iāve read somewhere that most hiking / backpacking injuries occur on downhill slopes vice climbs.
When I was drilling in WV we brought in a frac crew from TX , the drivers (2) literally jumped out of their trucks, took a minute to winch them out of the ravine with a dozer. And no, no groundwater was harmed with fracking, there is only saltwater at those depths.
It can be done. I think it was Westerman or something like that, I drove one the damn trucks for them after we winched it back onto the road.
