Part of it is probably pressure from the administrations of the other border states. The harder it is to cross into TX, the more of the caravans the other states get.

Well I guess I won’t be eating at McDonalds anytime soon. $18 for a Big Mac Combo? The way they put those Big Macs together like they have a vendetta against hamburgers…smashed, cheese off the bun and sauce all over the wrapper with a head of lettuce in the box. 
Insane.
I don’t eat fast food much, by that I mean maybe once every few years, but about 3 years ago I was in a pinch at work, woke up late, didn’t have time to make a lunch, so I swung by McDonalds for a Big Mac and fries on break.
It came to something like $13-15, I was floored. I could’ve sat down at a bar and gotten a real burger and fries for that. I expected maybe 4-5 bucks.
Hmmm, wondering how they are going to make it more affordable. The franchisees already complain about smaller profit margins due to increased labor costs. There are only a few ways to cut costs: material costs (they are already using subpar materials), labor costs (more automation) and/or reduce business expenses (lowered taxes are unlikely). As the cost of business and material costs keep rising, the only real alternatives are labor reductions or smaller profits. I would expect labor to take a hit. How much more automation can they do? The last time I stopped at a McDs you had to place an order on a kiosk. There were NO cashiers at the counter.
Yeah we don’t eat out much. There’s a new Jim and Nicks BBQ in town. Before you’re even seated you place and pay your order with a tip. A tip before you are even served or seated. If I pay and don’t tip will they give me burnt food? Spit in my drink? It’s ridiculous.
I dont eat or get any food from McDs any more. The last time (about a year ago) I did, the food was horrible and the service was also.
