Charging handle

I read someone on a review said you can’t use different charging handles but in the description it says it’s a standard ar15 one along with dust cover and forward assist. Is this guy full of $#|t or can I install a radian raptor on mine whenever it comes in? I would think I could it doesn’t seem like it’s proprietary charging handle for this platform.
Thanks for any info you may have guys.
Also which mags work the best? Would KCI mags work, or Zastava I wanted to try the Kalashnikov window mags but read those are actually KCIs that have windows cut in them or maybe the US palm translucent mags. Would any of the mentored ones above work?

You most certainly can use a different one
I have the Radian Raptor on mine.

Mags - the Magpuls worked for me. The Croatian mags that PSA sells did not work for me - the bolt slid over the top round and jammed.

I have a Radian Raptor charging handle installed also.

I will say don’t spend that much on the Radian. I started buying the PSA version after the Radian and have not looked back. I did a comparison of them and they are almost identical.

Radian Raptor :+1:t2:

When it’s new……that standard charging handle is a “bear” to work the action with. That .308 buffer spring in the buffer tube needs to be broken in. After about 300 rounds it starts to smooth out quite a bit. My son and I both had Timber Creek Enforcer charging handles. Mine cracked and bent between 250 and 300 rounds. My son had a very similar failure after about 600 rounds. Even though Timber creek replaced them….I would not buy them again. It’s Radian Raptor all the way !

We can only guarantee fit and function of our charging handles, however the charging handle we use is the same as our AR-15 products. So any mil spec charging handle should work.

The KS-47 G2 (complete firearm) comes with one Magpul 30 round AK-47 magazine (where allowed by law). The new Gen2 KS-47 has been tested and is guaranteed to work with the following AK-47 magazines:

  • Magpul AK-47 Pmag
  • Romanian Stick Magazine
  • Romanian Drum Magazine
  • Chinese Drum Magazine
  • Chinese Stick Magazine
  • Korean Drum Magazine
  • Korean Stick Magazine
  • Yugoslavian Stick Magazine
  • Bulgarian Stick Magazine
  • Circle10 Stick Magazine
  • Hungarian Stick Magazine
  • Russian Stick Magazine

**** Due to the unique geometry required for the KS-47 G2 BCG to function, ALL other magazines will not be guaranteed to work. If you are using a magazine not listed above, no warranty claims will be accepted for magazine functioning issues.**

Just understand that although the KS-47 will operate reliably with those STEEL magazines….the process of removing it & “rocking it …to lock it in place” WILL prematurely wear the “Over-insertion” tabs on the upper receiver. The hard steel will cut the soft aluminum tabs.

I only use polymer mags in my KS-47 for that reason. I have not observed any further wear on the over insertion tabs since I have restricted my KS-47 to polymer mags. The steel mags now are used in my AK only.

Thanks will definitely keep that in mind.

Josh - do you know what rails would be compatible with this Ks47? I really like the Geissele mk14 that came with my premium upper that I got from PSA and noticed you guys sale those by themselves- would the barrel nut from those fit in the Ks47 or is it limited or proprietary barrel and barrel nut for that rail only that comes with it?

Man, I’ll have to remember that - I ended up getting a radian but I got a super good deal on it on Xmas from JoeBob but will check that out for my 556 that I want to change out next. I currently have a a Breek Creek war hammer and it’s nice but a little slim. Appreciate the info

The KS-47 is designed to work with Mil-Spec AR-15 rails, so the Geissele should work fine.

I actually switched to an all Steel charging handle for the AR10 Buffer Spring… Zero flex, highly recommended.

I’m a fan of the Strike Industries Extended latch CH. Nice and not expensive.

Others have already said that other charging handles will work. I changed mine before I even fired it. I am only using Magpul mags and have purchased a few extra. As Josh posted, PSA lists the mags that they know work well.

Those PSA Waffle mags are a HOME RUN ! Josh didn’t mention those……but they are one of the BEST values in AK mags……and if you were able to “get you some of that”……at $9.95….you got a bargain !

“Beers”…That’s a great idea. When mine failed…I looked for a steel one, but I couldn’t find one. I am happy with the Radian…… and the action on my KS-47 is really buttery smooth now.

POWER CUSTOM - AR-15/M16 STEEL CHARGING HANDLE

This is what I picked up if anyone is interested.

I use the Strike Industries Latchless charging handle on my 16" and a Fortis Mfg. Clutch left-side only charging handle on my 10.5", both work great, work a little smoother after 100-200 reciprocations. I also use a Strike Industries T-Bone latchless charging handle with 3/32" holes drilled in it to mimic “SD” versions of the Radian Raptor for less gas in the face when shooting suppressed.
