Hey guys I have a crazy question see if someone can answer… Normally on my Glocks Smith & Wesson’s and now my dagger… I always do some undercut work. If the trigger guard ever cracked or broke. Can I send the lower receiver back to the factory to have it fixed swapped for another receiver with the same serial number? Or am I just out of luck and have to order another frame? This has never happened but I’ve always been curious…
For the Life of our product
The liability of Palmetto State Armory under this warranty shall be limited solely to the obligation to repair or replace the firearm/part or defect at its discretion, and to pay transportation and insurance charges for return of the firearm to the owner for a rightful warranty claim. This warranty is transferable for the serviceable lifetime of the firearm or part. Modification of firearm will void this warranty. This warranty does not cover normal wear or any damage resulting from careless handling, neglect, repairs and adjustments, corrosion, improper, substandard or defective ammunition.
It wasn’t a warranty question it was is it possible to have the lower frame fixed with the same serial number
No. That would not be covered under warranty and there is no way to transfer a serial number from one frame to another.
The reason I ask is because every time I’ve seen a review online about a frame breaking cracking or blowing up if the manufacturer covers the warranty they replace it with a new serialized gun.
In other words a new gun with a new serial number
Btw… Changing the sights is a modification. changing the trigger shoe is a modification. putting an extended slide release is a modification. Putting an extended mag release is a modification…According to the warranty that voids the warranty of the firearm. One point of view…
None of those are permanent. Undercutting the frame is.
I agree… Just wondering because, There was a guy on here a while ago his post was deleted. Who took a Dremel tool to his firearm and caused it to almost blow up. We’re not talking about a warranty here. What he did is in no way responsibility of PSA. But it crossed my mind if he could send the gun into PSA and have it fixed at his expense… But it was made clear that you cannot transfer serial numbers to another frame…but there’s plenty of people on here that I’ve seen that they have stipple their guns, remove the finger groove, etc…just saying, not to start a argument…
PSA’s a manufacturer, not a LGS/gunsmith. I’ve seen where they do fix “frankenguns” involving their components but it’s solely at their discretion. Their manufacturing process I would think would involve way too many line snags to retain a SN for repair customers. I.E. the MMOR (maint, mod, overhaul, repair) line ran different ran different for F-16 components than the manufacturing line @ Lockheed when I worked there. Price point was different though.
What I did would not cause a gun to almost blow up.i never asked psa to fix, warrant,or other other make good on anything
Sorry for posting.i can see where this is going
Right, but keep in mind as the other comments have said they aren’t a gunsmith they are a manufacturer so just as Ruger, Smith, Glock aren’t going to help you with your single frame and serial number PSA isn’t either.
Considering PSA is probably running more product lines than all of those expect Ruger, it simply doesn’t make sense to try to save your frame/serial considering the time/money involved for the polymer part.
Gentlemen…like i said i agree, psa or others wont repair frame. All i said everyone! Including Myself. That has done an undercut, removed finger groove. Etc…all fall under voided warranty! And it crossed my mind if frame repairs were possible…now i see there not!
Are you asking if they would do it for free?
There’s an element of personal decisions and responsibility here that often is glossed over.
If you modified your gun frame to make it more to your liking, and it broke at that point where you modded-- why do you expect anyone to give you resolution. If you did a grip stipple and it melted wrong in a certain place-- would you go and ask for warranty?
If you are putting in a new performance trigger assembly and crack the frame in doing so…what are the ethics there in asking for warranty?
Lol … really you should read the entire post
No worries I think most understood the question and I don’t think anyone was harping on you just wanted to give you the best info. ![]()
If you blew out a frame because of undercutting, JB Weld is tge only fix if you want the same serial number. I’ve blended and undercut all kinds of stuff without issue. If you get it think enough to break, you should have noticed and switched to a less aggressive tool long before that
