Dagger sight removal

The rear sights look like they push out like Glock rear sight, but I’ve read some horror stories online about the dagger front sight.

How do you remove both the front and rear sights? Is there an appropriate way to do this without causing stripped sections of slide and/or tool?

Several post on this that will probably help you out. Just click on the :mag: up top and type in (dagger sight) :grinning:

It’s not a particularly clear process, and I could not locate a video. What I have been reading is how people strip their bits or tools.

What I would like an official reply on how to accomplish this without stripping anything. If that information was clearly available, I wouldn’t have posted this.

I was just trying to help you out at midnight.
A thanks would suffice.
Let’s see if @mattbbb14 can get you squared away

Front sight:
I got a 4-in-1 Tool for Glock by Real Avid PN AVGLOCK41, you need a sight tool with a thinner OD as the wider ones don’t fully engage the hex head. If it feels like it’s taking too much pressure take a small soldering iron and hold it on the sight side for a minute or two to get any applied loc-tite to gel.
Rear Sight:
I use Wheeler Sight Tool PN 710905. Spendy in comparison to the NCStar, I imagine both would work fine. If you need heat, apply it to the slide side as you want the slide groove to expand.
IIRC this was an early production issue where high heat (Red) loc-tite (or similar product) was used in lieu of blue.
All that being said, I’m not an “offficial” here and can’t speak for them. Just saying what I remember

The only suggestion is to use a quality sight pusher and front sight tool. There are a couple of suggested sight pushers on the website at the bottom of every Dagger product listing.

Otherwise, the process is the same as every other glock style sight removal/instalation. You may need to use heat to lossen the loctite on the front sight screw.

Any gunsmith should be able to help you with this.

Ooh, am sorry.

Jammo,

I greatly appreciate your assistance, and your direct response to me. Direct and concise communication is a key to success, and it means alot to me; it is seemingly difficult for the gunless masses to avoid miscommunication, even about mundane/everyday topics and conversations.

While your initial response was not the resolution I was seeking, it was truly a breath of fresh air given this current world of ours.

Sincerely and without sarcasm,

Timothy

The rear sight appears to be straight forward and with out difficulty. Do you have a video somewhere of the front sight removal? My concern is the general result of stripping metal.

I’m gonna write this down and review a few more.

I do not have a video to reference. A quality front sight tool and a bit of heat is all you need. If you can’t get it out, please seek assistance from a gunsmith.

That is always the best advice.

I want to approach the dagger as its own platform, as tho I know nothing, so I should seek out my experts and other retirees before I commit to marring the metal with ignorance.

It unscrews from the bottom. Do as Matt said and heat it up, it should unscrew.

Tried 3 different glock front sight tools, none worked.
tried to heat it with soldering iron and all 3 tools above. would not budge.
took it to smith, he had a 4th tool and couldn’t get it to budge. He ended up rounding off the screw head. Took a dremel to the head then ended up putting the sight in the tool block and twisted and it finally broke off. Scraped up the end of the slide a little.
When I got home, I was able to use a pair of pliers to remove the part of the screw still in the sight. it came out with not much pressure. didn’t seem like there was any loctite on it, so no idea why it was so damn difficult.

After your “smith” dremeled the the screw head off why not just tap it out with a punch rather than twist it off

he didn’t dremel the whole way through the head. think he was afraid of damaging the slide underneath.

I personally had no issues with the front sight, buuuut the forward rear sight is my issue. It wont budge. Any ideas or anything im at ends with this thing.

Can anybody help. I’ve searched and searched and at this point am guessing im the only one who’s tried removing the forward rear sight.

Welcome to the forums @Brannan.Crawford

I bought a Glock Pusher Tool on the Amazons, if it can do a Springfield XD 9mm then it can do a Dagger, which would be my next project.
