Does a magnifier change a BDC?

So I’ve had this question for a while. I am wondering if I use a 1x scope with a 7.62x39/300BLK BDC in combination with a 3x magnifier, will the magnifier throw off the BDC? I want to be able to use the 1x as a red dot but still be able to have some long range help with bullet drop. Thanks for any help.

It may. I think this was why primary arms started to put their acss reticle in their prism magnifier.

I appreciate your answer and did a little more digging. According to Grok( normally not my go to) the use of the magnifier will not throw off the BDC, since it is magnified the same as the rest of the reticle. Meaning, that the hold off is still proportional to the reticle. I think I’m going to give this a try since my current 5x prism scope is a bit much for closer targets. Again, I appreciate the help.

Welcome. Essentially what you get with a magnifier then according to Grok is an optic working similar to a FFP scope, where the reticle increases with magnification. I havent ever used a magnifier with a red dot before, but maybe will try one.
