I am gonna be honest. The Civil War was five years’ worth of my great-great-great grandparents’ lives and I doubt any of them care about it now, so name it Fort Rainbow for all it matters to me. It’s a pointless exercise designed to make someone feel good about themselves, because that’s what the military is for, right?
I live 10ish minutes from fort gordon, no one ever refers to it as fort eisenhower.
