Index Journal article (not OP's Opinion)

Imagine if a gun shop started selling an accessory for an AR-15 rifle that offered to change the names of the three settings on the firing mechanism from (safety)-(single shot)-(full-auto) to F@CK-DONALD-TRUMP.

Quite a few people would hit the ceiling. Somewhere, there would be blood in the street. Most likely, the store would face a riot reminiscent of what happened Jan. 6 when right-wing, authoritarian zealots stormed the U.S. Capitol in a fury of treasonous gall now seen as the most serious threat to our democracy in generations.

So now let’s turn to a surprising story this week in The State newspaper. Seems like the Einsteins at gun shops operated by Palmetto State Armory are offering a gun accessory for AR-15s with three settings that slam President Joe Biden, not Trump, just like in the imaginary example above.

Protests? Riots? Nope. Reactions are giggles or intellectual disappointment or cries that a business has far overstepped the bounds of decency. But no violence.

In other words, many South Carolinians just shake their heads and think, “Well, that’s the way it is here.”

Unacceptable. It shouldn’t be this way. We shouldn’t blithely accept such obscene criticism of Biden, much less any president or elected leader. All Americans must take this kind of seditious nonsense more seriously. So shame on Palmetto State Armory for this latest incendiary entry into the marketplace. It’s vile, wrong and highly inappropriate. It further fans the flames splitting our country. It’s harming our system of governance and, if you want to get right down to it, it supports our enemies. If you want to let the Russians and Chinese control the world, just keep it up.

That’s why we suggest all South Carolinians — gun owners and those who don’t own guns — should boycott the business, which is preying on people’s political opinions to do what it really wants to do — sell more guns and make more millions a year by arming South Carolina. Don’t Palmetto State Armory’s customers realize they’re being used by the company’s clever marketers? Are they so blind as not to realize they’re being manipulated?

We support responsible gun ownership. But anyone who crawls out from under a rock just to sell something that says [F@CK JOE! BIDEN! is the lowest of the low. It’s not funny. It’s not something children should be subjected to. It’s certainly not something that would make a grandmama proud.

It’s virtually impossible to talk with any of the leaders at Palmetto State Armory. We reached out to someone who reportedly is a co-owner. Got crickets. We tried to send a message through its lobbying firm, Nelson Mullins, which has received $100,000 in the last year to represent the company on federal gun issues. Again, nothing.

So here’s what the company and those like it should know: If you continue to push anti-American memes and messages like the filth on the gun accessory, you are seeding a downward spiral that debases the principles of freedom offered in the Declaration of Independence and U.S. Constitution. By defiling the public debate with vile language and products, you promote dangerous insurrection.

Our elected officials must cry out against this politically divisive behavior. Unfortunately, some of them are more interested in dividing America than helping Americans. Just look at how U.S. Rep. Jeff Duncan of South Carolina has been wearing a “Let’s Go Brandon” mask. The phrase is a politically abusive meme among right-wingers that is nothing more than more coded ridicule of Biden. (The gun accessory is stamped with this code: “Letsgo-15 multi Brandon 00000”.)

Stop fomenting division. Start making American work by pulling out the partisan earplugs, listening and compromising. That’s the real American way.

I hope Palmetto State Armory finds a way to sue over this trashing of their co. & gun owners.

I love how the left side of media keeps saying that all of this is childish, or unprofessional. They always seem to forget how much trashing and dividing they do on a daily basis. PSA said F@ck JB on a product they made, while they had a photoshoot with a severed imitation of Trumps head… The hypocrisy in politics never ceases to amaze me. Its why I cant stand either of the two major parties.

Also, @Cougarspiritwoman Welcome to the Forums, and thank you for the Share. I edited the title so people would read all of it as an article before trying to jump down your throat thinking you wrote it.

there is so much I want to say about this article, I will just leave it at this:

for 4 years people bashed the last president and that was ok, now they are having a fit. I believe in you give the other side what they give you. Yes the bible says to turn the other check, however I do not believe you stand there and just keep switching cheeks for them to hit.

the total hypocrisy in the country is unreal. and I say that about all the political parties, even the libertarians and green party.

did I miss something or did they actually call the receiver a ‘gun accessory’? If so, tells you a lot about the person writing this, IMHO.

…If you continue to push anti-American memes and messages like the filth on the gun accessory…

This. I really think the left has no answer to the groundswell of disgust with the purported POTUS over his piss poor policies that hurt every American, but the working class the most. And more people are feeling it (and getting pissed off) each day it seems. This movement is exemplified in the Let’s Go Brandon! chant that, like many memes before it, they simply have no answer to. So let’s keep those memes rolling in and lowers rolling out!

And now their desperate response is, “You all are so mean and anti-American! And furthermore, you are making SC look bad! You should be so ashamed! Boo hoo hoo!”? Get out of here. FDJT was everywhere throughout his term, so you better get used to it. Let’s Go Brandon is our way of being polite… for the kids. Deal with it.

And meanwhile, FJB and his ilk continue to kill businesses, cause food and energy prices to rise, hinder the supply chain, demand you (and now your kids) get jabbed with the (not) vaccine and threaten the livelihoods, commerce and healthcare of everyone standing against the tyrannical power grabbing. And they have the gall to whine and fuss when the majority of Americans strongly dislike them and have the (1st Amendment) audacity to express it. They better get used to the impolite criticism, because some of those folks they are turning against them were chanting FDT! not so long ago, and they aren’t nearly as polite or nice as we are.

I first really noticed the hypocrisy of the media during George W Bush’s presidency. Although, it was there for Reagan and Bush Sr. too. It was perfectly acceptable for the media wing nuts to call the president stupid, print cartoons that were disrespectful and nasty, and to outright mock him at any given opportunity. Remember the story where some nobody threw a shoe at the President of the United States? They thought it was hilarious. Clinton or Obama? Never. Trump? Not only did they mock and openly lie about the man, they openly wished for his death and even made up lies to impeach him. Nothing was sacred, nothing was off the table. As far as I’m concerned, respect is earned. The media, the democrats, and the left-wing communists have not earned any. You want respect, show respect. This unofficial “president” didn’t even really campaign, yet somehow got even more votes than his old boss. It was clear then and becomes more so as time passes, that this guy is not fit. Why should we respect him? As far as I’m concerned there is nothing that could be said about this guy or his family that would shock me at this point. At least on the right, we don’t have effigies of him and do nasty things to it. But make no mistake, our disrespect of this poor schlub, is earned.

Well it was a nice wall of text. Someone was a little touchy to write it. Maybe the person who wrote that was feeling so sanctimonious. I bet that person responds. They can’t help it. It’s the ego. IMO-There will be a response or better yet a browbeating cause you knuckle dragging gun owners are dumb.

Very true.

I absolutely love how the left is now framing Dissenting Opinions as “Un American” or “Anti-American” and insinuating that the holder(s) are some sort of less-than-human antipatriot attempting to singlehandedly tear-down the very Fabric of Society.
