@GamecockOperator has that same AR-V. Im not sure if he has shot his or not.
Just called him. He is going to check his when he gets home and said his runs like a top.

Ten4 thank you. Did he buy his as complete? Or build?
He built it to the specs of the PSA because he already had the build kit. IIRC, PSA made theirs after seeing his.
Ok, well here’s my .02 here regarding the ARv. GuitarGuy was only half right… as i had built mine from scratch from parts, I did use all ARv parts for the internals, lower, and upper receiver. the barrel is 4" PSA 9mm barrel. It is a PSA Carbine buffer spring, using a KAK industries 9mm buffer in 5.4 oz. here is my pistol, here is its buffer, and spring.
i have no issues with feeding, or ejecting. she runs like a sewing machine honestly. now remember i built it, so its not a PSA build. the handguard is a bowden tactical mp5 style 3.5 free float handguard.
do you konw how much your buffer weighs?
to me it sounds like 1 of 2 things.
1.) use factory ammo, see if that fixes it. reloads can be finicky, and i dont care how dang good you are a loader (no offense) but i stand by factory loads as being the gold standard.
2.) it seems like your action is too fast, and may need slowed down some. so you may need a heavier spring, or buffer to have that.
oh and one more thing im using the Sb tactical PDW brace with its proprietary buffer tube. so its not a standard buffer tube. I hope that this helps you some.
Gamecock,
I am also using the pdw brace, my buffer looks identical to yours. I will try with other ammo, I am also using PMC and having the same outcome. I will try and get my buffer weight not sure if I have a scale at the house that gets that low.
yeah i had noticed your spring and buffer looked similar if not identical. that worries me about it not being proper weight inside because ive seen some standard carbine buffers come with the orange end, even though the “standard” if there is a thing, should be orange end for a 9mm buffer. so it could be a different weight. some guys i’ve heard while tuning their buffers have had to open up theirs and add additional weights to theirs to get it to run properly, but i’ve never had to do that with either of my 3 9mm’s. the arv, the ar9 and the pcc9 all run wonderfully with the “stock” setup as mentioned above, usually i try to use all PSA parts when i build, so it comes out almost as a factory rifle, just made by me here… so idk. half the fun is trying out these things and making them run… 9mm can be so finicky.
best of luck to you…
My wife has the same Arv with pdw brace. I checked it over before we took it out. It runs pretty well. Only problem we’ve encountered is with Magpul mags and I’m filing them down to get them running. Anyway it’s a shame yours isn’t running cuz it’s a fun little animal. First thing I would check, see if your feed ramp isn’t loose and maybe put some witness marks on the screws. We ran my wife’s dirty, didn’t oil it and took it out the next day. It ran better. Second thing, I know it sounds goofy, take the bird cage break off and try it shooting without it. I also cycled the gun manually over a hundred times before the first range trip.
Also shake your buffer weight and make sure it sounds like something is moving around in the weight. Your ejector may be a hair out of line as well, hard to tell from the photos. Good luck brother. Report back.
Those weights should come out.
Weird. It should have had birdshot in it. To deaden the blow. Those weights inside don’t move? If not your underweight and your bolt is bouncing off the chamber face.
My wife’s same exact model came with birdshot inside the weight and she barely purchased a month or so ago.
birdshot…? is this something new? is that a thing?
Very much so. I like bird shot over the sliding tungsten weight. In my “theory” the birdshot has more surface area to absorb impact making the deadening affect better. Or so I think. Your 9mm PCC should have weight inside of the buffer that moves freely. To help with out of battery discharge. Bolt bounce is real!
Oh yeah and birdshot is cheap, and “serviceable” lol
Weights do not move at all. There is about 1/4” from inside the buffer to where the orange peice mounts. I could put some bird shot in. Not much though. Alfred how much is in yours?
Added 12 number 3 bird shot bbs to the buffer tube (that’s all that would fit) don’t have a scale so can’t weigh it. Gonna shoot in the am will report back.
Just got home from work. Tomorrow should be an earlier day. I’ll open it up and see what she’s got in hers. I haven’t looked but it feels smaller than #3 shot.
Now im curious.
I have never seen shot in a buffer. They make weights for them…
There’s a reason they use Tungsten for the weights. It’s even denser than depleted Uranium…
I have never heard of any kind of weight shot in a buffer. Is this an ARV thing?
