Hey, going to purchase an AR Pistol. Can I get some advice on 8.5 or 10.5 in 5.56 NATO. I am thinking about the 10.5… Pros and Cons please. #605

In a 5.56 pistol platform I wouldn’t go any shorter than 11.5" or 12". To me 10.5 is the absolute shortest realistic effective length. My 5.56 SBR that I built I went with a 12" barrel. If you’re going under 12" get it in .300 blk. The whole point of 5.56 is speed, and a 10 inch barrel costs you like 20% of the energy you’d get outta a 16 inch. .300 blk reaches full burn in 8 inches.

Lonewolf is correct, I’m pretty tall. However, that setup is cobbled together and I haven’t be able to shoot it much to adjust it to my liking. I plan to get a different scope with a cantilever mount.
