For 1911 Fans in 45ACP

I got a notification from GunMagWarehouse today saying that 8 Round MecGar Magazines in 45ACP are back In Stock.

Last look showed 119 on hand.

I snagged up 5 immediately.

Price was $22.95 which was $2 per unit cheaper than the previous offering.

*Can anyone help with a remington 1911 45 R1 that jams bought new from PSA and jams continually *

Ammo type?

Ammo Type?..and is this problem with Multiple Magazines or a single Magazine?

Is your 1911 a Full Size , or Commander or Compact size?

Most 1911’s are better off Broken in with 230 FMJ Ammo…no JHP’s or other fancy Defensive Ammo until you know it cycles reliably.

You are probably thinking , why is this gun so Picky? Simple answer is…this design was from an era of Hand Fitment of parts… some things need to be finessed a little.

The ammo is PMC bronze 45 auto 230 FMJ and with the Remington mags that came with the pistol and it is a full size Remington 1911 R 1s mfg. in Huntsville, Al thast I purchased from PSA in Feb, 2023.

@fastford196928 gave you solid.

The Ammo shouldn’t be a problem , yet some 1911’s like what they like… stick with 230grain FMJ but experiment with noteable brands

Also. Everyone needs more Magazines, so try different brands like MecGar, Wilson Combat or Chip McCormick.

The variables will help identify if it’s the OEM Magazines or the Pistol itself.

When you JAM…is this on the Feed function or an Extraction problem?

Seems to be the extraction problem and thank you for the info I will get different mags and try them.

Magazine is a Feed issue.

The Extractor and Ejector are the post ignition culprits…but a crappy Magazine Spring or Follower could help add to the problem.

i pretty much only use kimber kimpro mags, or wilson combat 47d magazines… i’ve never had a single problem with either of them

I have a R1 that has a taste for the wilson combat magazines.
The only problems I’ve had are when i use any of the pro mags i foolishly purchased.
