Full size Dagger L!

Y’all.

I just watched the shot show prototype video and voted in the poll.

But seriously, How much longer for the Dagger L full size? Since there is so much in common with the Dagger full size SX that is already out there y’all have to be like Right there with getting this thing to market, right?

I need it.

Yes and no, they could go the easy route by making it just use G19L parts, but the Gen 3 17 and 19 locking blocks are different (so that would mean no Gen5 barrels in the full size gun).
Mold making is hard, and often requires multiple tries because of how things can expand, shrink, all that fun stuff. You get a mold that seems fine, do your plastic injecting and oh no turns out your 10’s of 1000’s dollar investment in that was basically a waste because a certain piece didn’t flow right or shrunk too much. Or you find out the design works ok but that specific design wears fast so you end up losing money by needing to have the molds replaced at 2x the rate.
Plus they have to make all the new barrels with the G17G3 lug, different locking block and slide lock lever probably to mate with it.
They had issues with initial Dagger barrels smacking the magazine and ejecting it so they likely learned from that and are testing/designing it to not do that on launch.

Molds are $$$$. I dont think enough people understand that.

And time :watch::watch::watch: every time you make a change.

It seems to me that realistically, the only EXTERNAL difference between the Full Size SX and a Full Size L is that on the full size L, the rail is longer. So a mold that was 100% identical to the current full size S except with the rail/front of the frame extended, with SX slide on it would be externally a Dagger L.

Or is the ‘wants a Dagger L more than a Dagger SX’ crowd more concerned with Gen 3-4 slide/barrel/etc interchangeability than they are with just having a longer rail on it?

Just curious.

That would be the only outside difference. In that config it would be using all Gen3 19 parts, so Gen5 barrels would still work and they could reduce amount of SKU’s and manufacturing by using 19L barrels, slides, recoil spring assemblies, slide lock levers, locking blocks, and I think that’s it.
But if they are doing a “proper” Glock 17 that’s more changing. And with the longer rail they may end up needing to do more reinforcing to stop it from drooping or just shearing off.
Also the markings on the frame too.

Having shot many a full size Glock, I don’t feel undergunned with a G19 nowadays. I’m used to it, conceals slightly more comfortably for bending down now, and you can get cool G19L slides and barrels that accomplish the same thing. Every light I’ve seen for a 17, works on a 19. The rail slot is in the same place after all, that’s why the same GL marked rail piece works on all size Glocks for the TLR1’s.

i like the idea of a glock 17 dagger, but i prefer the Dagger Tactical 45 much more over the G17 version. I’m sure in time though they’d probably come out with both eventually.

That got one of my votes.

thats the difference between us… I want 45 by god americas caliber and you want 10mm communist europe caliber.

Thats where im sitting another 9mm dagger would be a grear addition to round out the offerings but a dagger 45 is very interesting.

I’m hoping it’s a true 17 style slide, as that would be great. Same with the 10mm, as I have frames I would love Dagger style slides on. If they can keep the 10mm/45 slides under $300 complete they would reach quite an audience in the Polymer80/3d printer world.

They did showcase the full size concept at shot 2023

Go to about the 1min 50 second mark.
