Gasoline Prices

Obviously I can look that up, but I like the way knowledge was passed down in the Olden Days (like 1998).

So what was your experience about the making of this technology illegal ?

What would happen if I converted an old 4 cylinder Chevy engine - which I have access to a lot of - so that it could run, and drove with a tank or tanks full of compressed Hydrogen ?

Let’s say I drove south on 5 to California, which means stopping at the Ag. inspection station at the border.

Are the police, i.e. CHP, trained to identify the technology ?

Also, if you were doing hydrolysis right there on the vehicle, using a battery - it’s more efficient to use the battery to simply drive the transmission of the car.

Did you plug into an AC source when you stopped, and do they hydrolysis there ?

I didnt do the actual conversion, one of our geologists and and engineer did it, so i dont know alot about the process. I just remember there being a bunch of jars stuffed in foam cutouts (one of the things we did was water sampling), and it had all the copper lines and wires ran through the lid. That and the fact that i was surprised it ran.

As far as legality goes, I know that they pushed the idea that it was unsafe because of the hydrogen and the fact that people who had absolutely no idea what they were doing got hurt a few times. But I’ve seen that happen with trained mechanics on gas engines.

(my opinion, not representing PSA) Big oil didnt like the idea of something coming in and making a new market. Granted, this was before EV was really a thing. the Prius was the only popular Hybrid at the time as far as I can remember. This was 2008 ish.

As far as CA laws go, I wont even touch it. I have a hard enough time keeping up with their ever changing gun laws, If I had to do the same with car laws, Id probably cry. I live in South Carolina. We dont even have vehicle inspections. I’ve already told my wife that if we ever decide to move out of state, I’m keeping a piece of property here to register everything.

My uncle is in N. Carolina, said they have inpsections there, came to visit us in IL. Was wondering where get them at here. I had a blank stare, I had no idea what he was talking about lmao. Life out in the ol’ corn fields.

***surprised we dont have that here yet with chicago.
***also this made me think about crocadile Dundee when Walter tells him to be back on Wednesday and Mick asks him what day it is lol replies “doesnt know, doesn’t care…lucky bastard”

Yeah, NC is odd. They have state safety inspections, and each county decides on if they want to do the emissions inspections. I was really glad when I moved down here, until I realised how many tail lights were out. I am one of those people who hates when someone doesnt use a turn signal. Especially when people here cant drive to save their lives, literally. We were ranked the worst city in the country a couple years ago for car accidents…

Damn that’s crazy, I feel you tho, drivers in illinois are terrible, I mean real dumb. Stupidity has riddled this state.

**I honestly dont know how some people are able to get there license, thinking about our dmv’s tho it’s not really that surprising.

Hi Josh
Do you know the link for the “Products you would like to see” page ?
Tried to find it on the Forum home page.
Thanks for any info !

Question #2 -
If someone gave you a 4 cylinder Chevy engine, clean,
and a tank of propane as a Hydrogen surrogate -
how long do you think it would take you to set up the valves etc. for Step #1 -
just getting the engine to turn over a few times ?
LBL

It completely depends on your skill set, and what other parts you are using. Some of the set up is design based. What are you using for the rest of the system. Combustion engines all require three things, air, fuel and heat/spark. I’m a backyard engineer, but I havent messed with many things other than regular types of fuel, and some EV.

Liquified Hydrogen is a Deadend Energy Solution. There is more Hydrogen in a gallon of gasoline than there is in a gallon of Liquid Hydrogen.

2.95 87 octane 3.19 diesel

The propane technology has been around for a while. Ford (and probably GM) were making cars and trucks that run on propane back in the 1980’s. I think they were mainly intended as fleet vehicles. The main issue then was the lack of filling stations.

The news just reported that the average price of gas has gone up every day for the last 27 days.

I’ve seen a steady rise since the spring. Let’s go brandon.

Same

And the rise appears to be picking up steam…

Let’s go Brandon!

Jumped to $3.19 at most places in the Upstate of SC Monday. Yesterday I saw a couple of places that have already increased the price AGAIN to $3.29. What disturbs me most is that they are not nudging the price a penny or two at time, they are going at a dime a pop. Next we will see the quarter per gallon increases. FJB

3.49-3.59 north central illinois

been seeing the same thing in VA - 10 cent jumps and not the typical penny or two.

I was late for my own 7th b-day party because of gas lines! Clear memory of the day, lol.

I’d like to see a movie that expands on the Backyard Engineer concept, basically as a Comedy, and have a scene that expands on the Hydrolyis process.

But since someone has already done it … about 25 years ago in Marin County, there was some builder who pissed off one or more of his sub-contractors.

Somebody lined up a tank of propane, connected it to the house, filled the house with Propane, and Blew Up the house.

If I tweak my aquarium/ bathtub heater, and patch it onto a house circuit with a higher capacity circuit breaker, it will just sit there and heat up the 30 gallons of water with the heater resistors. And it will turn all the water into Hydrogen and Oxygen.

Getting back to the Mr. Inventor comedy … In one of the scenes before the explosion, Mr. Inventor eyes the bubbles fizzing up from the heater, related to live 115 VAC being exposed in the bathtub, and says, “It’s just a little Hydrolysis”.

Then a scene or 2 later, the water in the bathtub is GONE, and the 900 watt heater is just sitting there getting hotter. In a house filled with 240 pounds of Hydrogen and Oxygen gas.

Technically it might Open, but for the sake of Better Drama we’ll go with the option where it shorts, and sparks.

I think that would be funny.

I already tried lighting the stream of bubbles with a lighter. Too much Nitrogen I guess, wouldn’t light.

But that would create a funny scene too. “I wonder if it lights”. BOOM.

Wow, certainly glad I filled up last night - was $2.91: it was $3.01 and $3.04 tonight when I drove through (MO/AR border)
