Do the complete PSA AR-15 uppers need to be checked for headspace?
@sbailey790 , there are folks who check headspace on every firearm they build or buy. And then folks like me that have never checked headspace.
While we check them from the factory, it doesn’t hurt for you to check headspace for your own comfort level.
I’m with you bud. Assemble the AR, do function checks, load a round, pull the trigger.
Never had any trouble but l check them anyway. You want the gas explosion going out the right end of the barrel.
As a gunsmith and builder, I always recommend checking heads pace on all new builds, even ones from reputable factories. It’s a quick check that provides excellent piece of mind. It’s worth the couple of minutes to do to be sure things are setup correctly.
Bought an assembled 300blk upper here w/o BCG, put onto a lower I built and threw in a new Toolcraft BCG.
How much of a risk do you really think I am taking by taking it to the range with no headspace check? Trust me, I simply cannot find go no-go gauges for this anywhere.
Any thoughts are welcome, it’s my first build.
If a new barrel and a new bcg, I wouldn’t be concerned. I only get worried when it is used barrel and used bcg (which is a no no).
