Hi all new member here

AR 10 .308 buffer weights experience anyone? This thing is making hamburger out of my shoulder!

What buffer weight do you have in it, and is it the short buffer (carbine tube) or the longer one. Also, what stock?

Tube looks to be about 8" , stock buffer weight, collapsible stock

If the tube has the psa logo on it, then it is likely their midlength tube. The buffer should be smaller than an ar15 carbine buffer, but heavier.

To ease recoil, you can
1: use an adjustable gas block
2: change the buffer (could lead to issues with feeding and ejecting)
3: get a limbsaver or other type recoil pad depending on what stock you have (magpul has additional pads for their stocks, you can get a limbsaver for the standard mil spec stock).

welcome aboard

Will look into those items, thank you.

Come shoot my lever action 30-30, after that your AR10 will feel like a 22.

Welcome Aboard !!

You might also consider a Tubbs Flatwire 308 recoil spring.

Thanks,

I haven’t had recoil issues with my Gen 3, but did notice slight improvement in control when I added a simple muzzle break. Might try that as well–though it probably will not help your shoulder. Currently running a ASR break for use with silencer co suppressors.

Thanks, that was the first run of that gun. I was at the range all afternoon. I noticed the adjustable gas block screw had worked itself almost all the way out, when I pulled it out of the locker the other day. I have to get some lock-tight thread sealer for it. I was so focused on zeroing my scope that day I didn’t see the gas block adjustment screw backed out.
I do have a muzzle break ( stock ) which was included when I purchased the 18" s/s Gen 3 upper.
Reloin’ to Texas (SW), anxious to see what it’s goin’ to do to a bunch o Javalinas !

If your gas block adjustment is all the way out you might be running over gassed which would explain the kick.
I’d google how to tune that gas system before your next range trip.
Used mine for hogs in N Central TX at 100-200 yards. Knocks em down every time. Enjoy!
