The posting in this section is fine. Knowing the caliber is what determines the answer. You are unlikely to have any movement in a 9 mm 5 inch barrel. As for the heat expansion, the thermal coeficient for steel is 6.8 inches per 10**-6 (°F)-1. If you somehow manage to increase the temperature of the barrel by 500 °F the gap to the handguard will increase but by less than 0.002 inch.
In the unlikely event something rubs, go to Walmart and get some black nail polish. That will fix it.
