10.5 300 blk

Hello all, I’m looking to put together a 10.5” 300 BLK pistol and have some questions for you PSA pros. First is I want to do the 10.5” barrel with 10.5” hand guard but have read in reviews that some have problems fitting a suppressor down in that hand guard and have to mill out or change things. Anyone with experience here? I plan to run a Silencerco Harvester Evo. Should I just go with the 9” hand guard?

Next if anyone has some experience shooting left handed suppressed on a right hand gun and could give me tips to reduce blowback that would be greatly appreciated. I plan to put a Radian Raptor SD in it but not sure what I should do with my gas block if anything.
Thanks y’all!

Many 7.62 cans are too large for rails. PSA now has a 10" suppressor ready rail. Not sure if you can buy it separately from an upper or not.

You need to know the OD of the can and the ID of the rail and make sure the can will fit. Samson, Midwest Industries, Strike, and a few others make suppressor ready rails with large IDs. Be aware that if you tuck the can in a rail you cant shoot the gun with out the can or something ike a flash can to extend the muzzle past the rail.

1" is the typical length difference between a barrel and hand guard, but you can sometimes get away with 3/4" if you want the suppressor closer and still outside the hand guard. As for going with a handguard that covers the suppressor, do what @GuitarGuy says and get a known suppressor-sized rail. You could do a bunch of measurements and hope for the best with normal rail, but if you start grinding out spots of the rail take pictures for us to enjoy or cringe along with you. I don’t know that I’d want a super tight fit because I’d be afraid of movement between the barrel and rail bumping into each other. That seems like a path to breaking stuff, and you know it would be the expensive bits to break first.

As for reducing gas, an adjustable gas block is the best answer, but obviously there’s a lot more to that. You didn’t say whether or not you have fixed or adjustable. Someone did a review of a bunch of charging handles to reduce gas not that long ago. If I can find the link, I’ll update this post. Shooting lefty, you’re going to get nearly as much gas out of the ejection port as the charging handle, and there’s not much you can do about that, unfortunately. Using a heavier buffer can help, but it’s not going to help a whole lot.

For reference, I’m right handed and have a 10.5" 300 BLK upper and honestly, it’s just a gassy experience when shooting suppressed. I’ve tried all the same things you’re going through and not much helps except the gas block. I suppose you could purposely undersize a fixed gas block knowing it won’t work unsuppressed, but that seems like an odd choice.

I ran a yhm resonator k with a Midwest supressor rail. It worked great, free floated tube and not can touching.

I know this is an old post but the new Sabre .300 that matches the 10A1…… they are trying to make me go broke.

PSA has a way of doing that. I think i’d be pretty well off if i hadnt found PSA and developed the Firearm Addiction they have given me.
