Is 300 blk jakl made to cycle subs unsuppressed?

Hi, I originally had trouble with my jakl feeding my supers untill i polished and broke it in as disscussed in previous recent posts. It now feeds those fine. I tried some 220 grain aac Sierra match. Won’t cycle at all. On the highest setting fires and barely ejects and short strokes not picking up next round, undergassed.

I read some posts online about psa not intending it to cycle subs unsuppressed. Those settings are meant for the increased gass of suppressor usage. Is that true? I dont own a suppressor yet but will eventually. My 110 gr will be my defense load till then. I just want to know if it is working as expected. Will try some differrent sub loads and magazines later.

Yes. 300blk subs in any 300blk are meant to be used with a can. Will some 300blks cycle subs without a can? Yes. But the round was developed for 8-9" barrels and a can.

Edit: go ahead and buy a can. Then you will kick yourself for waiting so long to do it. I shot mine last week with my can on setting 5 with AAC subs and it sounded like a .22. @GamecockOperator can bear witness. It is stupid quiet.

Ok, so just to be clear. The gun not cycling 220 grain on the highest gas setting is normal? Nothing to be concerned about?

Btw, is 300 blk loaded with a little less powder? I would think the gasses put out would be a out the same if the cartridge was loaded the same pressure and powder.

i love the 110gr

Correct. Sub ammo is often loaded with slow burning pistol powder. Again, it is not meant to work without a can. It may work in some guns.

Thanks guitar guy, I’m new and ignorant to 300 blk. Last night to find out for myself i took apart a 110 grain and a 220 to compare. That 220 grain was one damn long bullet! Less than half the powder used in the 110. 3-4 times the length.

Yep.

I want to put my huxwrx Flow 762 Ti can on and run subs. Could the high flow through can pose a possibility of it not cycling subs because of the lack of backpressure compared to a traditional baffled can?

I doubt it. This is where the adjustable gas block is a plus.

I came to the forum looking for info on this too. I’ve been considering a Huxwrx Flow or a CAT ODB. Both are high flow type cans and I’m worried to spend that kind of cash if it’s not going to work well with the Jakl. Anyone tried it yet?
