um. kinda… it was originally developed by FN as a 9mm replacement for NATO. it wasnt selected though obviously.
regarding 7 inch and 12.5 inch 5.7 rock barrels. heres what PSA needs to do. develope a carbine Rock that uses the same barrel mount up as the Rock pistol, then make the barrels in 7, 12.5 and 16 inches for the carbine and then you can interchange barrels with your rock pistol, and your rock carbine… youd also of course be able to interchange magazines as well… problems solved… and you’d have a whole stup using the same caliber too. carbine plus pistol… win+win= Mega Win
