300blk Krink will be out soon. That has the priority right now in the AK line.
I don’t think this is going to happen.
They havent canceled it.
Not officially cancelling it and just not working on it are ultimately the same thing: you wind up with the same end state.
My bet is that there are too many irons in the fire AND the economy is bad enough that even PSA is sufferring. PSA now, in addition to all the AR’s and AK’s, has…
- the Dagger and variants
- 5.7 and variants,
- Sabre and variants
- Jakly and variants (pre-release update for 308: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oJ1yLkTyIXQ)
- Krinkof and variants (pre-release update for 300 black: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4nnPVHimhZI)
- A shotgun coming out (pre-release update: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xPdN9n0VXK0)
- The X5.7 PDW coming out (pre-release update: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pbiiHLn0n3E)
- The Switch: (pre-release update: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I7H1wyBX4UE)
As well as possible or ongoing issues with…
- Sabre BCG’s
- AK101 firing pins
Did I miss anything?
So with all of the above going on INCLUDING(!) updates on stuff you are working on, yet not a single whisper about the Grendel AK, there is plenty of reason to NOT believe anything is going to happen.
So if there is still life in this, prove it. Give an update. I’m a PSA fan and believe in what you guys are doing, Really, But continuing to wait for this is just plain dumb.
Yeah I don’t recall us hearing anything about it one way or another.
I’m not as well informed about 6.5gr; is there much demand for an AK in 6.5gr? What are the benefits having one in 6.5 over 7.62?
I would think it’s harder to find 6.5gr than 7.62 - especially cost per round; am I off base on that?
The cost compared to 7.62x39 (and others) is nearly comparable if you are buying AAC. Before that, Wolf steel case was a suprisingly good deal and was reliable and easy to 500 yards. Ask me how know.
As for benefits, it’s the old high BC thing. Much the same as Valkyrie, ARC, and Creedmoor, even though Grendel preceeds them.
The high BC thing? Much better shape leads to less drag and better stability. Not into the “dangerous part” of the transonic range until 1000 to 1100 yards depending on muzzle vel and weight.
Is it better than 6ARC. No. But it’s not behind by enough to say the juice was worht the squeeze. On top of that, there is already tons of Grendel out there and some governments deploying in their own systems.
PSA is certainly not suffering. Every company had to innovate or they eventually go under. At this point they (IMO) are listening to their customers. They are continuing to actively work on AKs, as the new krink 300blk was recently released.
By sufferring, I do mean in as a result of economic issues. That said, if you say they aren’t then fine.
Nevermind the fact that we are 35 Trillion in debt, the commercial real estate market died two years ago, regular real estate is collapsing in markets heretofore thought safe, China is dumping treasuries, and on and on.
But who exactly are you to help me believe that? The PSA CFO?
If money and sales are still flowing as well as you want me to believe, why not put a warm body to work on that Grendel AK?
Because they are listening to what their customer base wants. At this time, that appears to be the x57, sabre line, etc. AKs are dead across the markets due to cost. ARs are still in salad days and the average person can buy an AR, mags, optics, sking, and plenty of ammo and still be cheaper than an AK.
A 6.5G AK requires new tooling, new mags, new barrels, and lots of testing (PSA tests guns to the 10,000s of rounds.
I seem to remember that a Grendel AK was teased A YEAR before the X57 and others. What happened in that year in between?
So in other words, no work has started.
Now guess what… that’s OK. The only issue here is that you guys keep saying you’re working on it. But you’'re not. Peeps wanted it and would’ve paid. I would’ve. I’ve forgone other purchases waiting for this. But I’m done waiting.
If you say you are going to do something do it. But if you find out you can’t or won’t, it’s better to say as much. Anything else is bad business.
Marketing to niche nodes does not fit their model. They didn’t say no yet so take your lumps and press on.
But isn’t that EXACTLY what they did by saying they were going to do it?
Yep! Pressing on. ![]()
Im not saying work hasnt started. AAC only recently started 6.5g production and so far PSA has done projects based on what AAC can provide ammo for. This is why the 545 krink isnt out yet.
If it gets canceled, they will do a press release.
They did it for the recently canceled STG44 project.
It strikes me as odd that something as unique as he stg 44 (which personally I wouldn’t want, but to each their own), would get cancelled…but we are full speed ahead on bastardized krinks baby! 5.56 krink, first out the door, what’s next though? Surely something ending in x39 right? Nahhhh .300 blk.
5.56 I can understand. 7.62 is getting pricier than it should, people have a lot laying around here state side. 5.45 (as Mikhail intended the krink) is extremely pricey, and 5.56 can parade around as a fake krink. But how did we get to .300blk???
Fret not! I’ll say it for you.
Because for some reason everyone still thinks the .300 blk is all that. It’s the least versatile cartridge mentioned in this thread so far.
Meanwhile, it’s implied that Grendel is a niche.
Complaining about it on here aint gonna make it happen any earlier.
That is your opinion. 300blk products at one point was PSA’s #1 item sold.
