I went out to the range today to shoot my brand new PSA dagger full size & I had a couple malfunctions.( I did buy slide & lower separate don’t know if that makes a difference they are both from Psa) I shot one round & my second round was a light strike and did not go off. I tapped my mag and ejected the round , racked a new round in . Shot a couple more & on my 5th round the slide did not fully go forward or fully seated in . I did notice some rounds when I would rack my slide it would get stuck trying to enter the barrel . After 50 rounds it performed better but still slide was not fully seated & I had 7 light strikes. Also light strikes are off centered . Im using Glock mags & my ammo is at 115grain . Has anybody else experienced this? Is it a user error ? Does it need a “break in” ? Any info would help . Other than that gun shoots amazing .
What specific ammo (i.e. maker)? Off center is ok.
Also, are you limp wristing it?
I’m using Herters target 9mm 115gran ammo , & no sir . It got better with cycling after 50 rounds , I’m just thinking I might need to break it in or something . I’ll probably go to range tomorrow again and record it .
When slide recycles , it sometimes doesn’t fully go foward & also when a round got a light strike the slide was locked or stuck to recycle another round.
I would try a different brand of ammo and see if that changes anything.
Did you oil it at all? I kinda ran mine the first 100 as a torture test but the range guy @ the Greenville store range oiled it a little and racked it a bunch to maybe loosen up the slide a little.
Not sure i even had 1 failure. But mine has been fine, I dry fired it with snaps a bunch when I got back from buying the slide and range trip.
I’ll try different ammo , maybe throw in some 124 grain ammo in one mag. Thank you
Yes I did oil it , since I ordered it separate I made sure to oil , it was bone dry . & I have read on Reddit to try to get snap caps and just rack it as much as I can .
I did run all AAC 124s.
i’d probably run a different brand of ammo. it seems to be the issue if you ask me. i’d also lube the gun nicely too, and make sure it was good to go.
best of luck with the next range trip.
I will give an update on my next range trip. Thanks for the information.
there is a suggested 500 round break in. Do a lot of dry fire and range work. Maybe try another mag. How’s the feed ramp? On one barrel I had it was very rough, on another it was smooth. A light sanding and polishing might help. Also do a plunk test to be sure that a cartridge will fall cleanly into the firing chamber.
