Welcome @Teddybear Interesting thought. I wonder if the 54R would fit in the action of the AR10 lower or would require a larger platform be built proprietary for it.
I think you could make it work if you went the Ks-47 route, and used existing mags, like those of a psl or the vepr-54. Biggest headache is your bolt feeding rimmed ammo, and donkeys not cleaning corrosive out a DI system.
There are few semi auto options available in that caliber, all of them imports with a rough price tag for the casual shooter, tons of the cheapest full power ammunition hou can buy lying around, and even really decent brass softpoint hunting loads from ppu available. Its a really untapped market, if you pulled it off with a good price point it would probably sell very well. @Josiah_PSA
I think mags might be a problem as well as the length. Offhand I can’t think of any rimmed cartridges being used in the AR platform. The .22 doesn’t use the gas system.
It would need a completely redesigned bolt, but I think its possible.
Lever action 460 please.
Gen3 ar10 308 with an fn 16-18in barrel or a coated stainless barrel and in camo of course.
Psak-47 gf5 Mokov or Zukov in fde.
Please.
Bullpups, I Love Bullpups of all shapes/styles/calibers. I would enjoy seeing/owning a PSA built Bullpup rifle or even conversion kit.
Most of the conversion kits available in the 90’s were garbage and gave bullpups a bad name unfortunately.
That would be sick, especially given the typical price point for x54 and availability. Reviewing the stats it looks like the 762 x 54 has OAL of 77.16 mm, and the 762 x 51 has OAL of 71.12 mm. I bet Josiah is right it would need a proprietarily built lower.
Unless you could somehow seat the bullet into the cartridge by an additional 6mm?
I mean they have the ks proprietary lower, so i dont think that parts an issue. Issue is mags and the bolt. If they built the lower to use common x54 magazines akready available its just a matter of creating a reliable bolt/barrel setup.
I would also like an 11.5" barreled upper with a mid-length handguard as a sort of mini-faux-dissipater. with a low profile adjustable gas block.
PSA 2011 (9mm) would be amazing. I also would like a 10mm akv.
Would love to see PSA get into the AR style air rifle side of things… I’ve been looking for exact replica AR rifles for training in my own yard. Obviously recoil isn’t the same, but the more exact the rifle is to a true AR firearm, the better it is for training everything else. I’ve spent dozens of hours over many days searching the web for the right gun, it’s impossible. I have the Crosman R1 which is the most accurate I can find, but I would love to see some PSA PCP/CO2 rifles.
YESSSSSS!!!
Been waiting for 458 Socom in an SBR or pistol length upper to build my ultimate suppressed deer rifle with. That’s pretty much the perfect cartridge for a compact suppressed deer rifle for the type of close range thick woods deer hunting that is common in the Southeastern states. It’s big enough that I can take a heavy 450-600gr bullet and create a subsonic handload that still has more than enough energy to ethically use for hunting deer. In the thick woods where I usually hunt the longest shots I could possibly get are 150-200 yds and really the vast majority are under 100yds so the extra bullet drop from the low velocity won’t really even come into play.
(I say ethically hunt deer because even a subsonic 22LR can kill a deer, but most calibers, even 30, 338, etc…, have pretty low energy and really poor terminal ballistics at subsonic velocities. That leaves little to no margin for error on shot placement and when you do hit them the blood trail is going to be very light or non-existent since the bullets usually don’t fragment/expand at those velocity’s and leave small clean entry/exit wounds that kind of seal up and don’t bleed much. Deer are pretty tough critters and they can cover a heck of a lot of ground in a short amount of time, even when mortally wounded, which ultimately means that with most subsonic rounds there is a pretty small chance you’ll be able to find the carcass before the meat starts to turn, particularly in thick woods with lots of thickets for them to hide in)
I’d like to jump on the Socom (or even Bushmaster due to potentially big box store ammo availability) train.
The 450 Bushmaster has better range and terminal performance and is cheaper.
I would like to have a 450 Bushmaster upper for my PSA lower I have.
338 Federal AR10 upper, with a 26 inch long and 1 1/4 diameter barrel.
Also I would like to see Palmetto offer another product - a Specification for AR10 and AR15 barrels.
So that if you order a barrel from one of the custom barrel people, you can just tell them to use the “rifle upper spec from PSA” for the gas port hole.
