PSA to make a retro series?

Other leaders in the industry have started and made retro AR 15 lines of rifles. I’m not affiliated with PSA other than being a loyal customer. I’d like to start a discussion or vote to see a retro line of AR15s in a time where the AR market is only concerned about free float or standard, modern AR carbines. I’m talkin about seeing 20" rifle barrels in various twist rates, carry handle uppers (a1, c7, a2) and fixed stocks. The 20" rifle psa sells doesn’t fill the retro void. I’ve got plenty of M4 clones, but sometimes the old school scratches an itch many of us want, no…need, to fill. PSA, if you have a representative reading this, now is a good time to jump on the retro AR drought!

Welcome @thethirdharris !! We are starting some work using our Harrington and Richardson line. Here is a link to the beginning of the discussion.

Thank you!

Wow! Fantastic. The problem I’ve seen in the AR market is the mountains and valleys of production on items that are timeless. The retro rifles are as popular as ever, especially with upcoming generations that seen them in movies and games they grew up with. The ‘PSA-A1’ or something (the xm177 is cool too) would be a massive competitive factor to the retro AR market as it stands currently. Not only because other manufacturers are so focused on flattop, 16" barrel, carbines, but also due to PSAs historic ability to bring products to market at the blue collar price. A retro xm177, as you’re researching production for, or an m16A1 clone below $1000 (I believe psa could do even better on price) would slaughter competition in price and practicality. There’s buyers out there and I don’t see demand declining for them anytime soon.

The surplus market for example. We aren’t seeing legacy surplus rifles in large numbers like our fathers and grandfathers did. A reliable, as well as affordable, legacy remake of these ‘surplus’ rifles (m16a1, c7, xm177, m16a2) could be the new favorite of up and coming generations for their collections of increasingly expensive surplus arms.

We are looking into the M16A1 as well!

A C7 upper would be sick.

The lefties A1! I’ve built 2 and both handled fantastic with a 1/9 barrel. Maybe psa will offer different twist rates and a 223 wylde chambering. My favorite chambering and twist

Please consider a rear sight aperture similar to the DD A1+ if y’all do sell an A1.

@WC904 I will pass the suggestion up the chain of commnad!

M16A1 1/12 twist rate CHF chrome lined pencil barrel

@lornepetty I will pass the suggestion up the chain of command!

Hey folks how about a slick side no forward assist USAF spec model? Talk about a sweetheart lightweight rifle good for so many uses!

Brownells did a great job but their focus has gone elsewhere itd seem. An sp1 clone would be sick though.

@ Q_Tip Welcome! We love having these suggestions. I put them into a file and report them to the powers that be.

@thethirdharris I agree! an SP1 clone would be cool.

You trackin the bulpup thread?

Not exactly retro AR, but I know the guys on the PSA Custom line are planning a limited release of retro themed PSA Custom 1911s.

Each one will be specific to a military era.

This was the first batch but there will be more to come.

Yooo that tiger stripe is tight

We just added a couple of these 1911s for anyone interested.
