Muzzle Thread pitch on PSA GEN4 8" 9MM

Gents I have a PSA GEN4 8" 9MM 1/10 NITRIDE 7" LIGHTWEIGHT M-LOK UPPER - WITH BCG & CH - 5165449737

Trying to find out what size the muzzle threads are on this barrel
Thank you!

IIRC PSA uses the 1/2x28 thread pitch. 1/2x36 used to be popular also but has been waning IMO. If you need a cheap way to check, take the muzzle device off and head to your local hardware store. Find a 1/2x28 bolt and see if it will thread.

Wouldn’t a standard flashhider screw on?

  • all obvious caveats assumed.

It should. But make sure it is for 9mm and not 223/5.56. 9mm is bigger.

It also says in the product description:

Muzzle Thread: 1/2-28

very nice upper, i have something similar… no idea the threading on the flash hider or that it was different from a regular one until now

will this work on my AR9??

i think i need this on my PCC

…probably a good comp for the dagger too

Its made for the AK-V which is a 9mm, so it should.

@MichaelAnthony i think it has an alignment notch like AK’s use though.

I’m pretty sure the pa9 is 1/2-36. I just tried 2 different brands of muzzle devices and neither would thread on. A 9mm Griffin Armement taper device and the direct thread hub off my YHM R9. Both would thread onto my PSA AR 15s without a hickup. Not a happy camper here.

At one point they used 1/2Ă—36, like the rest of the gun industry. But it has standardized at 1/2Ă—28.

My best setup. ZERO recoil. Looks unique. Cycles just fine. Oh and chicks dig big things. I’ve got way more phone numbers from the ladies since I installed this on my Dagger.

Bro I just screwed a known 1/2x28 suppressor on it took a couple of threads then stopped, I took the blast deflector off the AR9 and tried to screw it onto a known 1/2x28 barrel, it took a couple of threads and stopped

…wth?

See his post one prior to what you replied to.

Post some pics.

Brother I found out that mine was among the early versions of the G4 that had a 1/2x36 barrel installed…at some point–assuming they got enough complaints that they moved over to a 1/2x28 like it should be… I begged them to trade me one out, they “invited” me to buy a 1/2x28 barrel instead which sucks a$$.

So pissed I got hung with a POS muzzle TPI when everyone who came after got the right one the first time…

1/2x36 is still a popular 9mm thread pattern.

Perhaps somewhere…
In the end, all of my 9mm suppressor accoutrements are 1/2x28…except this 1 barrel AMONG SEVERAL I BOUGHT FROM PSA in 1/2x28… They apparently understand 1/2x28 won the fight all I could find on the site are 1/2x28
Having to buy a 1/2x36 version of those just to shoot this AR suppressed THEN keeping everything straight so I don’t strip anything out is a massive PITA… They could have comped me an 8"barrel that cost them very little, particularly given how much I spend with PSA. But NOPE its whatever, I’ll just go buy a good barrel and be done with it I guess

They have no reason to comp you just based on the muzzle thread. 1/2Ă—36 isnt a mistake, it isnt wrong. If they did they would have to comp everyone. I have a single barrel that is 1/2Ă—36. I use tri lug for my can and its no big deal.

Your argument is like saying “i bought keymod but mlok won so give me a free rail.” It dont work that way.

At the time PSA started making those barrels, EVERYONE was using 1/2-36 for 9mm.

I have a couple myself.

This was originally done to PREVENT someone accidentally blasting a .22-cal can across the range…
