New Jakl accuracy concerns

Good afternoon all,
New to the discussion and just purchased a 13.7 Jakl upper assembly and lower assembly.
Today was the first day out with it. Before heading out I ran a few wet and dry patches down the bore and lubed the bolt carrier.
I fired approximately 40 rounds to function check and sight in back-up irons at approximately 30 yards, using American eagle m855 62gr and federal 193 55gr. The best group I could muster was 3.5” on paper from a solid rest on a table… The rifle ran great, but I was pretty disappointed in the groups. I’m experienced at shooting, not John Wick, but I am more than capable at 30 yards. Checked barrel screws, sights, anything that might be loose and everything was tight.
Questions are, what kind of accuracy are other Jakl owners getting? I’ve seen people shooting 1-2” groups at 100 yards with AAC 55gr.
Second, is there a barrel break-in where these groups might improve after more rounds are fired?
OR should I already be looking to send this back for warranty inspection/repair?
Any help and suggestions appreciated!

That’s odd. Barrel could be loose or not wiggly.

I’m taking my 13.7 in 300BO to the range, last time i did pretty good.

I would try different ammo. Some guns like a certain brand/weight over others.

While I agree, I would expect groups under 3” with M855 and 193 at 30 yards.
I have checked the barrel screws and they are tight. There appears to be no barrel movement.
I will install an optic and run some different ammo and see what I get on the next trip this week.
Thank you for the replies!

Went back out with a Holosun AEMS mounted. Fired at 50 yards AAC 75gr Blacktip, Prvi Partizan 55gr FMJ, PMC X-Tac 55 gr FMJ, and then more M855. Pretty much all performed the same. Best group around 3.5 but most above that. I didn’t keep the PMC X-Tac targets because they look the same as the others.

Update and conclusion:
I decided to send the upper back to PSA. I contacted them and they were very responsive and quick to issue a return label.
I returned the upper and it was inspected and I was contacted in less than a week. They found no issues with the upper receiver or barrel and test fired it at 25 yards using AAC 77gr OTM and achieved a 0.713" grouping. They state they checked barrel screw torque, but I do not know if they loosened and retorqued.
I received it back, reinstalled my Holosun and fired at 25 and 50 yards using the same PMC X-TAC 55 grain. Accuracy was substantially improved with all groups 2” or less.
They state they did not replace or repair anything but in my opinion something changed. If they retorqued the barrel that may have done it. Regardless, all I cared about was better accuracy and it shoots well enough for me now to be happy. I immediately ordered some AAC 77gr OTM but did not have it in time for my latest range trip. I will be testing this load as well and will likely get even better accuracy.

You will like the 77 grain rounds, I recently did some testing with them on my 1:7 AR and came away impressed. I settled on using the IMI version when I can find it, but I just like their ammo better. It’s the same Sierra Matchking projectile in both.

I have read a lot of great reviews on it. I look forward to using it in the Jakl but also my other 5.56 rifles.

Man mine is doing the same exact thing. 3 different types of ammo. Gonna have to send back

@deerarcher1 welcome to the forums. sorry to hear you’re having accuracy issues with the Jakl. im sure i fyou contact their Customer service they will get you fixed up.

I’m sorry to hear that. PSAs customer service was on top of getting me taken care of, although nothing significant was found, something definitely changed after being inspected.
I agree and suggest sending it in. Make sure you document exactly what ammunition you’ve been using, (brand and grain weight), optic/sights and your average group sizes.
I will be taking mine back out this weekend to fire the 77gr OTM for the first time. I’ll update with how it goes, I’ve been too busy lately to get out to the range.

I have a similar problem. Accuracy is awful.

I did a bore sight with a laser cartridge, and my iron sights, at mechanical zero, were almost spot on. Adjusted iron sights and went to the range.

At 25yds the rounds land about 20 MOA to the left of the point of aim. The iron sights actually run out of adjustment before point of aim and point of impact re aligned. Grouping is also enormous, probably around 5"

To rule out factors other than the rifle, I shot the same ammo, with the same sights at the same distance and at the same target through my trusty AR, and they basically landed in the bullseye with a grouping of about 1".

I have also tried a completely different set of ron sights, and the results remain the same.

Any idea on what I could check next before I take the rifle back to PSA?

Thanks.

In my eyes that drives a go back right there.

I agree with Rufus. Running out of windage at 25 yards is a significant concern and should be addressed by the manufacturer.
I wouldn’t want much more than 6 clicks either direction at 100 yards personally.
A warning regarding laser bore sights, these at best get you in the ball park, and the ones that you place in the chamber do not tightly fit for good reason, but are often biased by the ejector in the bolt which gives a false reading. Regardless, if the sights were MZed, installed and you are running out of windage at 25, there is probably more going on.
You could check the gaps between the barrel and receiver to see if it is canted, and also make sure the barrel screws are tight (carefully). Unlikely, but Also worth looking at the muzzle inside of the bore to be sure there are no defects that may have come from the pin and weld of the muzzle device.
I didn’t not experience windage problems, only poor grouping.

What caliber and ammo?

@parmory first, welcom eto the forums! we’re glad to have you.

second, im not sure what the deal is with your sights, but i do know that PSA has a lifetime warranty and they will fix it up for you. just give customer service a call and they. will take care of you. best of luck.

Thank you. Will check the points you mentioned.

5.56, not sure of brand, don’t have bulk box anymore.
