both rounds will work, you might be able to find some .223 REM ammo cheaper it will also work

those mags should also work fine

Good choices all around! I would recommend this for mags as we do have it on sale for presidents day. Gets you 7 PMAGS and a rifle case.

That’s a nice rifle :+1:t3:

I bought a blem, no regrets. Can’t really tell from new. The rail had a “lighter area” on top, but my optic covers it. Saved money, looks great, runs flawless.

The ammo you picked, both work. And any 5.56x45 or 5.56 NATO will work. You can also shoot .223 in that rifle and usually save a bit of money, sacrificing a tiny bit of accuracy. I mainly shoot .223, saving my 5.56…

The Romeo 5 is solid, especially if you’re young and your eyesight is good. I had one, and went with the larger diameter Romeo 7. But I’m older, and have eyesight issues. The Romeo 5 now sits on my 12ga home security. I love both, the 7 is just easier for me to use quickly

You’ll be happy with any of these choices :+1:t3:

Great choice on the rifle! I’ll second the endorsement of buying blems from PSA. I bought 2 blem ARs from them and couldn’t find blems on either.

As for mags, what you chose is probably fine. I swear by Mapul everything, so I’ll also second the endorsement from Anthony if you need the case as well. That’s a great price for the package.

As for the optics, I’ll have to defer to Rocky on the Sigs. I’ve heard great things about them, but have mainly used Trijicon on the high side and Primary Arms on the low side for optics.

Welcome to the family!

Thx for everyones quick responses. What about ammo? Im at this price range. Winchester M855 62 gr FMJ Green Tip 5.56x45mm Ammunition 200 Rounds | Palmetto State Armory

I’ll be honest, I don’t have an ammo loyalty for my rifles thus far

I mainly shoot Tula .223, and buy the cheapest 5.56 in a name I recognize

I can’t wait for AAC to get going on their rifle ammo

There might be a small difference in price between .223 and 5.56, but not a huge difference (unless you’re getting steel-cased ammo). You might consider getting a bunch of the 5.56 M193 (55gr bullet) for practice because it’s typically cheaper than 62 gr. Plus, 5.56 is made for the rifle you’re considering. Don’t use the 62 gr (m855) on steel targets because it will poke a hole in them. If you shooting at range targets or someone else’s targets, they might get kinda mad at you :grimacing:

These days get what you can when you can. Ive always been partial to federal M193 but now I just take what I can get.

Also most indoor ranges do not allow M855 bc of its steel core.

good price in todays ammo world, dont forget you’ll have to factor in shipping

I wouldn’t pay the extra for the green tip unless you are setting it aside for use as your go to ammo for an emergency situation. Practice and plink with the cheaper stuff. I pretty much exclusively use steel cased ruskie ammo, as it is a little less painful to the old wallet. I’d say try some of the cheap stuff, see if your rifle likes it, and decide what to stock up on from there.

New Shooter, New rifle just get the basic .223 55gr. It’s the cheapest for plinking. Like someone else mentioned green tip is not indoor range friendly.

Its going to be unobtanium in a year or two, but I have had terrific results from some barnaul 62gr SP steel case i picked up some years ago. I “splurged” and got it at $219.90 for 1000rds. Every barrel I have used it in seems to like it plenty well for cheap steel. Best bet is to try as many different loads as you can get your hands on and see what performs best in your barrel. As with anything relating to barrels, it’s equal parts math, science, and voodoo. YMMV

I have Federal American Eagle 55gr 5.56, done me good so far. No fails.

cant go wrong with Federal

Wolf Gold for real. $260 for a case… we’ll never see that again.

I am left handed and already had a Radian lower and want to buy a left handed upper. Stag Arms seems to be big name for leftys. I also noticed Gibbz has complete uppers too. Does PSA offer a left handed complete upper?

Welcome Good Sir! As a fellow Southpaw I can heartily recommend Stag Arms, left ejecting models. Solid US manufacturer, providing a solid product. I have been lobbying PSA to join the party but it is a serious manufacturing commitment to get started. BCA offers left ejecting, left bolt models in a bunch of different calibers. Moriarty Arms also produces left ejecting models.
