Built the lower last year on a PSA Stealth lower with Magpul MOE furniture. Just got my PSA 16" Pencil barrel upper with 15" M-Lock rail and NIB BCG/CH. Upper wont close. Front pin is fine, but rear of receivers wont close. Rear pin wont go in, even with BCG/CH removed and front pin pulled out.
Will the pin go in without the upper in place? If so, how easily?
Do you have another (loose) pin, to try in the upper?
Both pins seat properly when lower is by itself.
-
Have you tried to fit the upper to a different lower?
-
And tried a different upper onto the lower you built?
-
Also maybe show pictures of just the lower without the upper.

Is the hammer forward or in the cocked position? If it is cocked back, put your thumb over it, and pull the trigger while gently letting it fall.
Maybe you have already thought of this and tried already ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Thats as far as you can push it down???
Unscrew the buffer tube and see if it will attach
Was thinking that. Wrench slipped, nicked the threads. I posted here and put it away for the night.
I don’t think the issue is around the rear pin area.
Looking at one of your pictures the buffer detent shows the notch on the buffer tube so I think you have that in correctly installed (reference I think, always good to check).
So with the BCG and CH out, the upper still will not close, and you have a picture that shows that the upper and lower mounting holes do not line up in the rear.
OK, time to move forward, can you post a picture with the BCG & CH still removed but with the Upper attached to the lower with the forward pin only. See if you can capture from before the forward pin to the rear pin. It just seems like something is hanging up the closure in front of the trigger area.
Sorry to spec out another picture but just not seeing the whole join of the lower to upper.
Remove BCG, buffer and spring.
Do not attach the front pin. The front end of the upper should be lose.
Can you line up the hole in the upper with the take down pin in the lower at the rear closest to the butt?
Once attached at the rear, can you line up the front take down pin?
Back the buffer tube out one revolution
Wont backing out the buffer tube cause the detent to be free?
If it isnt captured then yes. It rules out a data point though.
Rear does not seat. Incoming photo dump…
OK, I just looked at the high res picture on a large screen. You have Way Over torqued the buffer tube and it is now protruding so much into the lower that it is interfering with the upper. You will need to back that tube way out and hand tighten it, not wrench it, until it holds the buffer retaining pin enough to hold it in place.
Hopefully you did not bend things too much.
That’s what I’m seeing too.
