Ordered my first AR15 ever. What to look out for?

I am new to the platform and if there are similar topics on this out there, I have not found it. I purchased a 16" MID-LENGTH 5.56 NATO 1/7 NITRIDE 13.5" LIGHTWEIGHT M-LOK MOE EPT RIFLE W/MBUS SIGHT SET complete Rifle and as far as QC is concerned, what are somethings to look for to make sure I got a “quality” unit? Aside from functional testing, is there anything that stands out? Or can I expect it to be tight and nit? I cannot wait until it gets shipped. Day 3 of the 7-10 business days waiting. It feels like eons.

You will be fine. Lube it, shoot it, and enjoy it. Then decide what you like/dont like and buy or build #2.

A warning: black rifle disease is real and there is no cure.

As far as AR’s go. I think you will be fine. As far as AR’s go, I think your wife has lots to learn still.

Funny thing is, I’m “an AK guy”. If the SHTF happens. I’m grabbing my AK. I’ve been an AK guy all my life. I’ve been into AR’s less than a year. Today I have more AR’s than AK’s. More AR accessories, parts and complete rifles than I do AK’s. I have more AR plans in the near and distant future than AK’s. They are just flat out fun, addicting and easy to get lost with down the rabbit hole.

The AR you picked is a mighty fine unit.

Here is my 16" MID-LENGTH 5.56 NATO 1/7 NITRIDE 13.5" LIGHTWEIGHT M-LOK MOE EPT RIFLE. (What you just ordered)

While you wait for it to arrive, pick out a red dot, some mags, a sling, extended mag release, ambi bolt release, ammo assortment, more mags, a mag loader or stripper clips, a bipod, bells, whistles, LED lights, glitter, etc. Then start shopping for a new upper because you’ll need it for your next lower you will be buying soon. Oh and since you will be getting a lower soon, you might as well just get the 3 pack.

Lube it up good and let it rip.

I only need this one……

well now you have to start dressing that thing up. Look for deals on red dots or LPVO’s, lights, slings… and don’t forget to keep an eye open for ammo deals. You will need those fer sure and fer certain.

That is a weird question because I didnt understand it. Lol

It was about an old project but got wiped out. Looked like the ks 47 but side charger.

Also wbp has 5.56x45 and 5.45x39 mags

I thought you traded this one for the 1911 .

Optics, magazines, ammo to start. Now is a fairly good time for ammo and mags are dirt cheap. Get a 10 pack of PMAGS to start. After you get some trigger time in, look at the PSA 2 stage enhanced trigger. Probably the best upgrade you can do for the lowest amount of $$. Like $70 or less. Pass on the $30 EPT trigger, though. Nothing special there.

Good advice! Get the stuff you need now while you can.

If you can take your wife to the range, pretty soon she will see she needs one too. I forget who brought it up first, but, AR parts are actually seeds.

I’m still on the fence. I told myself to do that. Then the thought of letting it leave the collection makes me want to keep it all of the sudden.

Also the “cheap” 1911 I wanted became the ol “well if I’m spending that much I might as well go up one notch.”

Then once I was there, I said go up another notch. Now IDK what to do.

OK so I understand not wanting to let one of the collection go and apparently you have the black rifle disease :mosquito:.

I gave you my recommendation for your first 1911 and it happens to be (cheap) dollar wise but not cheap in quality.

I’m trying to keep you from getting a divorce. Now if you insist on having a top shelf starter 1911 then your probably gonna have to get a new wife also.

Now I’m in the same dilemma as you and don’t know what to tell you. Well yeah I do… the gun would be cheaper than a new wife.
