PSA lowers FCG pocket cut question

Are any of the PSA stripped or complete lowers M16 or M4 FCG pocket?

No or at least I haven’t seen any in quite a long time.

Thanks.

I just read through the lower thread pinned to the top of the forum and found the answer I’d overlooked before. Only one run was ever done with an M16 pocket.

They have done a few runs here and there, but once PSA started making their own they dont. The reason is that most FCG’s don’t need the full auto cut nor do most people need that cut.

im pleased that you read that forum thread here  yes, unfortunately only 1 run… however that hasnt stopped me from talking to some of the powers that be there to change the CAD to permit them to cut ALL their lowers with the M16 pocket.

My reasoning is this : Some folks are sticklers for making an EXACT clone of an AR-15 to what the military uses, sans the full auto of course. That said, they’d like their lowers to have the M16 pocket because of it being what the military has in their m16’s.

Goodness knows i would love this because of its authenticity to what the original m16’s have. (again authentic to the original). Well even as much as i squeeked to various founders and CEO’s and CFO’s and what not, so far there is no change and probably no intent to change it.

I feel this is a shame, because the say 5-10% of people that are in this camp of wanting these lowers with the M16 cut will shop elsewhere, thus having psa miss their sales. Changing it to M16 cut lowers, does not harm anything at all, only takes a few minutes or seconds more in the cad machines having it cut, and well, lets face it, those that arent looking specifically for the m16 cut wouldnt know the difference anyways. SO if PSA were to change its lowers to having m16 pockets, its a win win for everyone. they’d get more customers, buying thier lowers, and folks who dont know about it or dont care about it, wouldnt be bothered either way.

I’ll keep mentioning it, but dont hold your breath sadly :(.

kinda correct. i am pretty sure its only been one run, if that. there is still some discussion about even that one run having it.

Do you know what the cut is in the H&R lowers?

unfortunately ive not had any luck getting my hands on one yet. When i do, i’ll definately let everyone know on my lowers thread… If i was a betting man though, i’d have to say its going to be a low shelf, like most of PSA’s current lower production is. Only differences i can see on their regular M-16 cloned lower will be the roll mark and possibly the coloring of the anodizing. However, they will most likely have many other lowers, to accomadate the retro builders and if so, those lowers will most likely be vastly different from the standard M16 style lower that PSA has now with a low shelf. we may be looking at M16 cut lowers, low shelf lowers, or high shelf lowers. Too early for me to know as i havent seen any of the lowers that they are producing right now. That said, if someone here has a complete H&R first run Rifles please let us know what type of lower it is.

I have a Blem XM16E1 on it’s way and I will post some pics…

now THAT is something i’d love to see. I say that because i have built what i consider to be the xm16E1 model myself, and while im not super hard core on it, i think its close enough and i’d like to compare my build with what yours is. im excited to see this

Blem stripped lower that is, and a 1/12 H&R barrel assembly, I have 2 Colt M16A1 kits , planning on getting a stripped Gray A1 lower and 1/7 barrel assembly to mix and match, thinking about a 3 prong for the 1/12. Was watching 1975 S.W.A.T. and was looking at their AR’s, nice 3 prong, triangle guards, 20 round mags and it looks like the lower doesn’t have the fencing around the mag release, so XM16E1? But the finish appears black…

Very nice sir😁

i like the fact you’re using a no-fence lower there, the proper thin profile barrel, however you have a forward assist upper without a brass deflector, so its not a full slab side, and you’re running a later model flash hider instead of the 3 prong one, which leaves me to ask, what model are you trying to clone?

overall though sir, i like it a lot.

Right now I am think of it as a battlefield mix and match, looking at getting the 3 prong( H&R only has the A1 birdcage, hopefully the make a 3 prong). For what I have read in a couple reference books, some of the XM 16 E1’s did come with forward assists. No forward assists were Air Force and early M16’s that had no fencing that Army ā€œadvisorsā€ were using early war. I even saw were Colt just milled down forward assist humps so they were slicker-ish.

Just noticed these on my surplus upper,
