Public outdoor gun ranges

Hello, just wondering if someone local could tell me where are any public outdoor gun ranges in SC. I’m in Virginia so I have no clue. Unless I web searched. Or is there public land where it would be legal to setup targets with a safe backstop and do some plinking? Thanks

It depends on where in South Carolina you are looking. In the midlands there is a place called Indian Creek near Pomaria.

It’s hit or miss on how many people will be there, but it is open to the public.

I’ve also shot a Belfast, SC which was really nice.

Panteao in Swansea is a 600yd rifle range with steel starting at 200 yards. They have 5 large pistol bays all with steel. Their general purpose bay in 50 yards and you can set up your own targets as well and shoot at and distance as long as everyone is on the same firing line.

That was quick. All that info sounds good and I’ll keep it in mind. Thanks for all the help.

The one in Hopkins/Eastover is a little closer and gets less traffic.

@ajm777 PSA also has an outdoor range in Swansea SC as well. It is listed on our website here.

Anyone know anywhere to shoot outdoors that is open to the public near Santee/Elloree SC. Looking on Google there are a few private ranges but nothing open to the public less than an hour away. I am new to the area. I grew up in Charleston and don’t know anyone local.

Has anybody been to Manchester recently? I believe it’s the closest DNR range to me. Curious what it’s like, if there’s anything to look out for or to make sure I have it I go check it out.

PA fish & game commission had gamelands ranges, but the rules basically allowed for sighting in hunting rifles and that’s it.

Sounds like SCDNR ranges are quite a bit different.

I’m in Fort Mill, SC but I travel to Shelby, NC or PSA range in Columbia, SC.

@brynmckie57 their used to be a range in Pageland. Don’t know if it is still there or not.

Any ranges in the Beaufort, SC area? Public or private (paid)?

These are the DNR ranges in the state.

There is a great DNR range southeast of Spartanburg. James O Thomason range. I haven’t been in 2 years, but they usually have lead sleds you can borrow if you’re sighting in a rifle.

Now called Champion Defense

Yes. Its a decent range. I wish we had one other than Clinton House that had 1 mile.
