RMR vs Doctor slide?

Is there one that is advantageous to the other, or does it come down to what optic you want to run?

It is entirely based on the optic you intend on using

Correct me if i’m wrong but RMR is typically easier to find right?

There are more red dots than share the RMR footprint if that’s what you’re asking? Otherwise, optics with either footprint are easy to find from a million different retailers (psa included).

What about having your irons in front or back, is this just personal preference?

Ultimately, yes. There’s an argument to be made either way. But really it’s just your preference.

Picked up a doctor cut slide. I intend to mount either a truglo or venom.

Good luck. The Docter cut does not fit my Bushnell Bushnell RXS100, despite theory about Docter cut. Let us all know so that we may look before we leap.

I think the RMR is better for compatibility, but we need more examples and information.

I believe that this is the information you seek:

Optic footprints

Some pistols have to have them in front of the optic because of how the internal parts of the slide fit, or the shape/size of the slide.

For example, if I recall correctly, the M&P 1.0 couldnt have an RMR cut and a rear sight unless it was recut with the rear sight forward of the optic.

So there’s some challenges or requirements that are just due to the way the guns are designed.

The Venom is listed as fitting. Please let us know how it works.

OK, the deed is done! I have acquired a Doctor Cut Slide, a Swenson threaded barrel on sale at Midway for under $60 and after misadventures surrendered to recommendations and used the Vortex Venom ™ and the screws for same as included with my slide.
The Horrible News, using the Memorial Day Sale, and buying the discount RMR slide with Holosun 407C https://palmettostatearmory.com/psa-dagger-complete-rmr-slide-assembly-with-threaded-barrel-holosun-hs507c-x2-reflex-sight-black-dlc.html
I could have saved $80 est. over what I spent. Sigh. With PSA cruise the sales.
I tried to fit a Bushnell RXS 100, but despite listed tables, no joy in Mudville.
The installation went very well until it came to installing the battery on the Vortex Venom…after many attempts and looking on line, best reference said it was hard, I used the included big screwdriver and pushed downward HARD with the slide resting on the edge of my table, giving me a flat surface. Victory is mine! When the battery install is the most difficult part of the process, I should not complain.

I had to go to YouTube to figure out how to get the battery cap back on lol

Now that I spent the money PSA is delivering a slide unit with Vortex Venom so, you need a lower $99.99 plus $40 processing, a barrel for $100 or so, and you are good for $540.

Who is an early adopter.

I have the bushnell as well, does it fit the RMR cutout?

There is a list, around here somewhere. The Bushnell is not on any. It was on a list for Docter compatible sights, but NOT on a list from Palmetto. It did not work on that cut and adapters for it I could not find.

My question is how do I look at the slide and know whether it’s an RMR cut or a doctor cut on my dagger

You can find diagrams of the exact dimensions of each cut online, then measure which cut is on your slide.

It is DOCTER, not Doctor. It is a name, not a medical profession.
