I always liked the look of the Ruger No. 1 single shot and I ran up on this one at a gun show some years ago. Its not one I shoot very often because it does have some recoil and the ammo is on the expensive side but I got a little brass and dies so I can load for it and that helps a lot. I got the box of ammo when I bought the gun 20 years ago. Its even more expensive now.
Nice, I own a .375 Ruger.
nice rifle… i’ve never heard of it, or .416 Rigby… looks like a huge round/shell,.
I enjoy seeing your collection sir! Then l go searching to learn more. Gotta ask 400+ grain projectiles? Beautiful rifle!
Yes the factory cartridges have 410 gr solid copper bullets and the bullets for reloading are 400 gr solid brass.
there’s a guy on Youtube that shoots the Rigby at various targets from time to time

@davidlandonjr Scott’s videos have introduced me to the big bore safari guns and its got me itching for one now. Even though he is pretty comical in his videos, he is pretty informative to those with little to no knowledge on those guns.
@string1946 that is a beautiful No.1 you have. 416 Rigby’s do not pop up often outside of Gunbroker
Scott seems like a good cookie compared to some others on there.
Thank you. I found it at a gun show near Atlanta years ago. I have always liked the look of the Ruger #1 and #3. I will say if I was going after dangerous game that could stomp, claw or gore you to death, I don’t think a single shot would be my first choice.
I was going to say, I’m not sure what problem that rifle was created to solve, but whatever it is, I hope I’m never face-to-face with it.
Scott is lucky to have survived that catastrophic failure with that 50 cal.
