I’m curious what the shipping protection insurance gets you when ordering from PSA?
Normally, I select this option when ordering from PSA, but today I didn’t. I always preload my cart and see what the total cost is and then I deposit my fun money into our account so I don’t upset my banker (wife). As long as I continue to follow this procedure, my banker (wife) doesn’t mind me ordering my hobby parts. But today the shipping protection didn’t pop up when I preloaded my cart.
When I placed the oder the shipping protection showed but I did not select it to keep things on an even keel with the bride! With PSA’s excellent customer service, why purchase this protection?
What does the Shipping Protection Insurance really get you?
Not 100% either. I also looked into recently and found that a large percentage of people choose to opt out of it. I would assume it has something to do with if the order is lost by the carrier or delivered to the wrong place? Idk ![]()
To my understanding it will cover lost or theft. Believe it or not, guns, guns` parts and specially, ammo become lost frequently. Whenever is offer do not hesitate to take advantage. I just got this from goggle:
Per the article above: Across the country, thousands of firearms disappear while in transit every year. According to data from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, more than 13,000 thefts occurred in interstate shipments. The greatest proportion of reported theft or loss incidents during that period involved FedEx (39%), UPS (39%), and the U.S. Postal Service (13%). “Only Congress can mandate that gun sellers report missing firearms to the ATF”.
I would recommend saving your money unless it’s over $100.
It’s been two weeks trying to get a replacement. I can’t get anyone to do anything. They won’t call back, give an update, or send a replacement. PSA is always slow to process and ship.
I paid for shipping insurance, and was told by two representaives that the claim was transferred to that department and they will get ahold of me.
I made a couple small orders after the first and before filing a claim. Those two orders showed. I am still missing one of four packages sent, from various locations for that single order, with a buffer extension. It was from three orders ago, and I still have nothing for contact, replacement, or refund.
The order was placed 23 days ago today, and the insurance doesn’t expedite a replacement by any means.
Insurce didn’t get me anything on expediting small parts, but could see using it on a high dollar order to get full value for a loss, and I am sure it will take a long time either way with a higher value.
I am stuck waiting on a $26 part that’s in limbo for service or delivery, with insurance paid to PSA, on a box that was already covered for $100 insurance through the shipping company.
UPS / FedEx standard coverage is $100 with each shipment and you pay more for a stated value above that. Keep in mind that they split ship. Each box comes with insurance for $100 automatically.
That “$100 built in insurance” is for the Shipper, not the person receiving the package. Ask UPS how I know. Purchasing extra protection is for your peace of mind.
Anyway, if you’re awaiting FedEx, that means this item is a PSA Vendor/3rd party affiliate - and was not sent by, nor handled physically in any way by, PSA or PSA Employees.
Which also means that there are layers they have to wade-through in order to get you your package/refund.
The first thing they will do is put a trace on the package. Then it is up to UPS or FedEx (or USPS if transferred) to try and find the route of package to its last stop and then go from there. Until PSA receives that info there is nothing to communicate back.
