On a related sidenote, two months ago I was sending an Eotech in for repairs and took it to a UPS Store for shipment. Guy asked what I was shipping and then informed me that the stores were not allowed to ship firearm accessories. Something about their license or some bs.
The UPS storefronts are franchised some pay for the ability to ship firearms related materials others do not. Likely would drive liability insurance costs. If you can show them it is available on Amazon they will (or at least should) ship it. Had to go the the official UPS hub in Mauldin to return some ProMag (junk) mags. I returned some other stuff at the same Simpsonville store and they gave me that same spiel you mentioned but as soon as I told (showed) them it was a warranty claim on something I purchased on Amazon but out of Amazon’s return window… no more questions. Shipped. Just an FYI.
It is possible that the shipping slowdown is a result of a letter sent out by five Democrat Senators. UPS was a recipient of a letter inquiring about the shipping of firearms and firearm components. Here’s a breakdown of the situation and it is terrifying.
I always say “machine parts” or “crafting supplies”. I smile a little and can only imagine what’s going on their head when they think this big bearded dude is shipping glitter or hot glue sticks.
Keep this mind when purchasing from any mail order company when you get to the part where you choose the shipping method. I’ll pay a buck or two extra to use someone else.
Brownell’s also got notice that their account with UPS had been cancelled. Since I just ordered a Dagger on Friday, I’ll be calling on Tuesday to discuss other shipping options.
