Yes.
As long as the barrel length is 16" or more you can buy rifle stock lower and assemble it. If it is less than 16" barrel buy a pistol brace lower.
If you want a short barreled rifle then you need an SBR tax stamp. You can mix and match lowers and uppers, no one will know what configuration you have unless take it out in public. No one here will tell you to do anything illegal, but you need to study your state and local gun laws.
What state are you a resident of? Palmetto State Armory will only ship items that are legal in your state.
Also, be aware that you have to pass an FBI background check to buy the lower, or any part of a gun considered to be a firearm, ie incomplete lower receiver, complete lower, or a handgun, or a complete rifle. The part of the weapon capable of firing the ammunition is what is usually classified as a firearm.
There are plenty of sources that you can read and learn all this stuff. It’s not really complicated, but you can worry yourself over nothing. If you are an citizen of the U.S.A. you have rights, included in the Constitution and Bill of rights. Start with the 2nd Amendment. The media and ‘Liberals’ want to scare you and rule over you. They try everything to take away your freedom, rights, and individual liberty.
Again, read the laws of your state, and there are easy to find steps in purchasing a firearm on this site, and any other website. It’s easy and you do not have to be worried, we just voted the communists out of office ![]()

I think I’m gonna have to put a pin in this and revisit it when our car note is paid off in March, I was hoping to be able to build something out a lot cheaper.
I don’t think you are going to do it for less than $400 or at least not much.
All in with tax, shipping and FFL.
Buy your magazines local to save $10 shipping
$338
$25 FFL
$15 magazine
$378 +
- Ammo
- BCG & CH
** Getting free shipping is the way to save a little $$
I have put several together for pretty cheap. Yeah the tool kits would be awesome but not really needed. AR tool comes in handy for the castle nut, that is about it for most of us.
Need a good punch and look up the numerous ways to set the roll pins on like bolt release there are several tricks, from channel locks etc.
I got an upper for for 200 with BCG to make my PSA Trump 47 lower. Another 100 bucks to PSA for a parts kit.
AMMO! I always forget that part, although 556 is pretty easy these days I love the 5.7 and ouch.
Oh man this is a great lower economy build parts kit. 99 bucks still what I got.
PSA AR-15 Lower Build Kit MOE EPT Black | Palmetto State Armory
You can’t build it out for less than a complete one @ $119
@tsbond
it’s all good, come march I can add some money to what I can pay monthly it opens up a few options.
Wow that is pretty cheap! @jammo
Here is my last build, this trigger (Is it boron?) is pretty decent trigger in that kit. For a economy build.
Yeah, for sure, there are some good kits and stuff out there and hacks that can make it go easier from people who build all the time. Probably a few right here on the forums.
Buy the upper and lower individually.
Same money either way.
@FitandFinish
ok, since you’re putting a pin in it for a few months, thats a good thing in my opinion. I think the very first thing you need to do though concerning a build is deciding what you want to build first.
caliber, size of gun overall, pistol or carbine or long rifle, then ask yourself things like free floated or fsb? ya see what im getting at. get a metal picture of what you want to build, once you know the jexact rifle / pistol, carbine that you wanna build, then we can worry about what parts you ned , and ultimately what tools you need.
as a side note, all those tools listed above are damn good toools, and cost a good pretty penny. When i first started building AR’s i had a big phillips head, and a big flat head screwdrivers. A straight razor blade. a set of punches, and a permeant marker. oh and a zip-lock freezer bag. and i think thats it. I built probably 20 lowers over time with a setup like this before i bought real tools, and when i had the real tools i was like holy crap this is soooo much easier to build them with now!!
i remember years ago i could get a retail price for the PSA lower parts kit of 59 and 69 dollars. add that to their blemmed lowers for 39.00 you have right at 100- 109 bux in the lower those were the days.
Do it to know your weapon.
Don’t disagree but $$$ savings at the moment.
@Rufus
It’s more when you have to pay shipping charges
@GamecockOperator
Lower $25
Upper $19
Just for shipping
probably the best reason right there.
thats true… i would either then try to finally get that stuff during a free shipping event, which while not all would be for sale during that time usually, but bargain shopping is always half the fun ya know? or at least i always have loved doing it.
I’m just bored and wish to create. I’m not picky, I like everything.
understand that feeling all too well. and actually the liking everything too… thats a symptom of a big problem for me, as it means my wallet tends to get incredibly lighter. lol .
