Soviet Arms Chinese Type 56 Clone

I’m new here so if this is a stupid question I’m sorry. I’m trying to help a friend of mine gather parts for a Chinese Type 56 clone. I’m aware that PSA has the Soviet Arms Type 56 but that’s not the route he’s taking. As many may know, original type 56 parts are impossibly hard to find. He needs a front sight and gas block. Specifically a non-spiker front sight with the enclosed hooded sight post and cleaning rod hooks.

My question is, would it be possible to buy parts for these from PSA, or their supplier? I know it’s not on their website, and I’m guessing the answer is no since there’s no way to ask anyone. I’ve gotten no where asking guys in the stores. But my logic is obviously someone is making these components. I’m just trying to figure out how or where to purchase them.

The best option is to check one of the online marketplace sites (gunbroker, armslist, arfcom EE).

Sadly the days of cheap surplus have dried up and even the AK market itself has significantly declined.

Yeah he and I have been all over just about every online marketplace for over a year. Nothing. Even put out WTB ads. You’re right, they’re all but dried up even though they made literally millions upon millions of them. That’s why I thought I’d ask.

Next option is welding a hood on a polish FSB, which are available through Apex.

Very true. I have a Polish FSB and I’m going to attempt turning a brass rod to support welding a hood on it and file it to shape. Hopefully it will turn out.
