i did hear back from Josiah about the open carry and the Gathering.
unfortunately its a cold range, and thus open carry is not permitted. They will have officers on duty patrolling the event and will actively stop open carry. If there is concealed carry, they cannot do anything about that, unless they see it… so keep your concealed concealed… cause they arent advertising that so its on the DL.
from what i saw, it should be good till bout 8 or so friday night, and then rain all night, and stop by 7or 8 am saturday and be good rest of day… which is great, depending how much itll dry out up there durin gthose few hours before opening at 10 saturday… we can hope it wont be that much rain thats for sure. i know im praying for less rain over night, but also if we get any rain, its to be overnight.
Thanks for the reply. I was unclear what cold range meant but I understand now that it means no loaded guns except for on the firing line. But like you said, out of sight out of mind.
I just wanted to let you guys know that I had my tickets and was ready to go. I had a doctors appointment with my Hematologist today. I had my blood drawn on Tuesday for the appointment today. One of the tests was a CBC (complete blood count). Many of my labs were a good bit out of the normal range. My hemoglobin and hemocrit are so high that I have to be in the hospital tomorrow to have a therapeutic phlebotomy done (drawing off blood) to lower my H &H levels. They are going to monitor me for a little while afterwards. The side effects from this has been bad headaches, dizziness, loss of some of my balance and tiredness much of the time. I am disappointed as I was really looking foward towards meeting many of you guys. Anyway you guys have fun, be safe and enjoy it for me.
Hang in there buddy I know what you are going through and how bad you wanted to go to The Gathering.
My mind tells me I can do anything but of course my body want let me. When my mind over rules I usually regret doing it and pay for it by being completely down for days.
I have labs every month and can now tell when something is off in my body and adjust things that I can. Of course a lot of them we can’t control.
Make sure you are getting plenty of fluids and good air flow…
nevermind your wife is a nurse.
It gets a little easier the longer you go on but the mental part is still a struggle. @1911
Best wishes and I hope the hospital stay gets you feeling better.
Thank you Jason. I will keep all of you in the loop on how things are going. It is kinda funny that just about anytime you or I have an issue come up the other one has already been through it or is going through it. There are several more on the forum that is the same way. We all make a good medical support group for each other.
dangit, and many other choice words. Greg you’re gonna be missed big time. i’ll be praying for ya, and hoping beyond hope that you could make it saturday depending on everything. if not, I WILL see you there next year. that is a promise… so we both gotta live at least another year and some days
I didn’t work so hard to get to where I am right now to then just to kick the bucket . If the good Lord is willing I think that I have a few more good years left in me that I intend to use. I did contribute to the cause of this somewhat because I pushed my body a little too hard. To me that is a lot better than something happening because I wasn’t doing everything that I could do to improve. I have discussed trying to find my limits with several guys on the forum that are in the same position as we are. It can be hard to find out correctly how far you can go. I don’t want anyone to be able to say that I didn’t fight all the way to the very end.
Anyway I am going to stop now because I don’t want to derail this thread any further. I hope that everyone stays safe and enjoys themselves tomorrow and Saturday.
I’ll be giving away some prizes as I walk around today, feel free to compete for one if you see me (attire pictured). Totally not just doing this to give away business cards…
