I just ordered the Night Stalker! I know that my eyesight isn’t going to need happy with the stock sights. I need recommendations for someone that can do a slide mod so I can put on a green dot. Looking and searching don’t seem to get me anywhere.
Thanks
i’m not sure as to what sights will work with it as i yet to have mine delivered, but it is on its way.
to me they looked like novak style sights, and as such any novak sights should fit. being that i’m not positive with that due to not having my night stalker yet on hand, well its as good as a guess.
however 1911 sights that i prefer are usually night sights, truglow is one manufacturer that makes nice and bright night sights… there are many more out there, so i’ll have to research them when mine comes in finally.
welcome to the Night Stalker club. did you get the .45 or the .10mm
Wow Tisas number #2 .
Which Night Stalker did you go with?
@GamecockOperator
actually itll make #3 for me.
firs twas the 299.99 usgi version.
then was the Raider,
and now the night stalker. I’m a .45 man through and through. so no 10mil for me ever.
I got the .45. I want the Raider next. That bronze color is neat. What are Novak sights? I want to put a Holosun on mine.
That’s right I forgot about the Raider.
You go threaded barrel or not on the NS ?
Novak Sights are fixed sights that are called that because the way they mount to the gun, the cut outs, were designed by a guy called novak i believe. its the cut of the sights themselves.
I went Non threaded. I have some 1911s already threaded, and while they’re great fun to shoot suppressed i just dont see the need to have ever 1911 i own to have threaded sights.
@Jammo ok i’ll bite, what are the three guns pictured?

Service
Raider
Match
the grips on the service threw me for it being a plain service.
the light messed with me on the match photo, it looks more fde than silver to me for some odd reason.
either way very nice pistols there sir.
To actually answer your question, you have two options:
One is a Novak mounting plate. Basically it slide into place like the rear sight would, but instead of being a rear sight, it’s an entire plate which you then mount your green dot to. I’m not a fan of this, because it’s very bulky and awkward looking, and the optic ends up sitting quite high above the bore.
The other is to have the slide milled. Normally this would be what I go with, but not on a single stack 1911. Not sure if there’s even enough flat room up top to have it done, you’d have to ask a qualified machine shop/machinist.
If neither of those sound appealing, you can opt to stick with the base sighting system, but upgrade the sights themselves to something you might find easier to focus on.
All new to me but thanks for the answer. What are examples of upgraded sights? I wouldn’t even know where to begin as this is my first 1911.
The Army was easier. Take what was handed to you! Of course Mt eyes were 45 years younger!
Are the any recommendations for places to have the slide milled from anyone?
I personally haven’t had the procedure done, so I don’t have specific recommendations, but if you do a little googlefu of “milling 1911 for dot sight” several options come up. I’m sure you could find out more than enough info by clicking around a bit.
As far as upgraded irons go, there’s tons of options out there. Really depends on your eyes and what you’re comfortable with. What I can tell you for sure is that getting an upgraded set of irons will be significantly cheaper than milling the slide and buying a dot. That cost entirely depends on if it’s worth it to you.
I did the search suggestion. People must have more business than they can handle or they are snobs. I’ve emailed three different places, not even one answer back! If they can’t even do the courtesy of saying we’re too busy, it’s not a good idea or we hate Tisas, then I’ll never do business with them.
i’ve ran into that problem with folks not returning calls, emails, whatever when it comes to trying to get them to come out to my home to do work for me. be it landscaping, flooring, or whatever its like pulling teeth to give people money to do work for me. i dont get it.
Me either. Crappy work ethic I think.

I found this company while searching for options on milling a Rock Island slide for an optic. I never reached out to them but might be worth a look.
+1 on Tisas. I just acquired one of their new 2011 in 9mm and overall very pleased with my purchase so far.
