Turkey hunting 101: a primer on the official game bird of south carolina

Benjamin Franklin wanted the Turkey to be our national symbol instead of the Bald Eagle.
They are a noble bird, and can be fierce.

yeah just dont look as intimidating as the awesome looking bald eagle.

Yeah F-15 Eagle, Eagle Scout, and Philadelphia Eagles sound better than F-15 Turkey, Turkey Scout and Philadelphia Turkeys…

Turkeys sure do taste better too, I’m sure…
I knew an old guy who had to watch turkeys on his farm. He named them George and Martha. George was the boss. When we fired guns he would fuss ‘Gobble’, if the horses ran, he would fuss ‘Gobble’ and they quit running. The dog also was second fiddle to the Tom.

yeah i dont think i’d like to be considered a Turkey Scout. It just doesnt sound pleasant, nor as prestigious as Eagle Scout. Something about going to the fair and getting me a nice Eagle Leg for supper doesnt sound as appetizing as the Turkey Leg does either.

thats funny about the old Tom… I’ve heard similar stories about them in the past. I have no doubt that they are highly intelligent birds.
