US Supreme Court strikes down ban on bump stocks!

From The Pour Over:
Bump stocks are legal again.
In a 6-3 decision, the [U.S. Supreme Court struck down a ban on bump stocks], an attachment that modifies semi-automatic weapons to fire 400-800 rounds per minute (near the rate of machine guns, which are mostly illegal under federal law).
The Trump Administration banned bump stocks in 2018 following a mass shooting in Las Vegas, where the modification enabled the Vegas shooter to fire more than 1,000 rounds into a crowded music festival, killing 60 people and wounding 413 more.
In the majority opinion, Justice Thomas said that the ban was illegal because bump stocks don’t convert weapons into what the law defines as machine guns. [Justice Alito concurred] but called on Congress to change the law and ban bump stocks. The Court’s [three liberal justices dissented].

Any thoughts?

I don’t see any valid use for them other than mag dumps at the range or firing into a crowd. Neither is something I would do anyway. However, I agree with the underlying decision of the finding - the AFT, or any agency, cannot simply change definitions on a whim or the lean of the current administration.

I agree, they’re a mostly useless accessory I have no intention of ever using or owning.

HOWEVA, I don’t agree with a ban on them for one simple reason: it’s yet another overreach, abuse of power, and one of the cuts in the “death by a thousand cuts” method Dems use when continually attempting to disarm everyone. They know they can’t ban guns outright, so they attempt to take every little thing they can and make ownership such a hindrance nobody new will bother and those of us who do own things will become overnight felons and will face jail time if we ever use them.

The biggest takeaway is that the ATF cannot single-handedly make law or reinterpret how they see fit. Only congress can do that.

you can use a rubber band and get the same effect. I would maybe want one if we were in a world were a military attack was possible. But I would rather have an auto sear in that sort of situation.

Example; pistol braces!

Now just apply the same to all the other 3 letter agencies and we might see some change in the right direction.

SO SAY WE ALL!

Especially the EPA

Rejoice Brothers and Sisters. Again WE THE PEOPLE are truly blessed by another Outstanding American Man, Mr. Michael Cargill. Out of the hundreds of times he’s sued the DOJ, AG, ATF, FBI, this bump-stock case being struck down and thrown back into the face of the ATF is an Absolute WIN for all American’s and one’s to follow. Go ahead and look into Mr. Cargill, look into a little bit about who the Man is, what the Man has done and will continue to do. I couldn’t ask for a better Man to stand up and start striking some fear into these authoritarian anti-constitution $hit-bags. :fire:

Don’t get me started on those jagoffs and what they’ve done to the automotive industry.

It may be just for the occasional sheets and giggles, but I want one :innocent:

If Chevron deference goes down the 3 letter agencies are screwed and Congress will have to write law with precise language. No more waffling behind mushy lawfare!

I still think there is a lot of lies and stinky fish about what happened in Vegas.

Not just the automotive industry…they may be the worst 3 letter agency of all.

Can’t afford mag dumps

My buddy who’s not on the forum wanted me ask when will PSA have bump stocks for sale?

If and when a company makes them again…perhaps.

Interesting Take:

Biggest take away is, they constitutionally unable to do it and they know and they dont care. They will continue to make rules, they will continue to enforce them and they will lock you up and ruin you whether they are “allowed” to or not. And you will continue to take it as long as they dish it out. They are immune to repercussions.
