We lost a member

@ThePontificator passed away yesterday. Many of in SC have known John through arfcom and the shooting world for years.

Although I am surprised by the news, I am far more saddened. (we really need a “sad” reaction)

GG, you seem to have known him at least nominally - do you know if there is anything we can do for his family?

Terrible news. RIP.

Condolences to his family :disappointed:

Rest In Peace

RIP John. See you on the other side. Prayers for the family.

That’s very sad I’m so sorry

Awful news, anyone close with him know the Wife/GF or Children and know if there is a need for funding or something we might all be able to pitch in a few bucks, to really help a Good Family in their time of need? If so, please do not hesitate with the word, I’m positive we can get something together quickly enough to help the Family and ease the pain of the Funeral and all the outrageous costs involved. I hate to hear when the World losses another Good Man. Not so common here in 2024.

Sad news. I wish him a safe and happy journey.

John wasnt married. He cared for his ailing paremts (mother over 90) and several friends ard helping with that.

Gotcha, unfortunately I didn’t personally know, and was not close with Mr. John. But being a single fella and caring for parents, sounds like there might be a need? I know a lot of us working class folks don’t exactly have our final arrangements in order, with the cost of daily essentials being double what should be. Hopefully he himself had something in order, or possibly even one of his parents may have had a Globe Life policy from decades ago… If you hear of a need for some help, please share and I’m positive we can throw something together.

I knew John; we’’d been to lunch and gone shooting on several occasions. He introduced me to IDPA about a decade ago. He’d lost a lot of weight over the past few years and was constantly walking his doggo to stay active.

I hate that he’s gone. John was a good guy.

Awfully kind of you to offer @stewartgary1987

Rest in peace John. I didnt know Ponti personally. I Had interacted with him on occasion on ArfCom. from all i’ve seen and read and heard of from him and about him, he was a stand up guy who had a lot of bad luck. I wish him the best in his journey to the other side, and pray for him and his family now that he has left them. I Hope that someone is able to / already helping take care of his family. I agree if there is a need that we can be informed of and fill, we’d be glad to do it as a whole team here. I pray he rests in peace knowing he had a positive effect on the people he interacted with, and that no matter what all of his family will be taken care of here, now that hes gone. It takes a very special person to take care of your elder family as they age and need more and more physical help. He was a special dude that will be missed. RIP John. Enjoy shooting in amongst the stars brother.

My sad condolences. I never met John, or many of you for that matter. With that said, this forum is a grand collection of some of the best people that I’ve ever interacted with. God Bless John, his family, and this community of like minded folks.

I am very sorry.

I didn’t know John but read a lot of his posts on arfcom. Seemed like a solid dude I would be happy to have a beer with. My sincere condolences to his family and friends.

RIP

Sorry, it’s always sad when wr lose someone.

John will be interred at Ft. Jackson here in Columbia. There will not be a service per family.
